That paint scheme is really a beauty!!! I remember wanting a YZ10 when It was released, maybe now I'll add it to the bucket list

The shell is a Masami replica job painted by our own Jon Miller!
Ill be having another done soon for racing use, maybe the red one, it was the same design, but another of the Yokomo team?

I love that. I´ve still got a 94 YZ10 tucked away and I so need to get it out and running again, your thread is inspirational.

Guys, need some advice. Took the YZ10 out today after building a pack and getting her all ready, hit a problem. Ive little to no braking!
Ive got the dial right up on the Cyclone, braking to 150 on my KO, and still theres hardly any there, its braking off load, but under load its like its a mild pull, im running a one way layshaft so rear brakes only, but even so, nothing really happening.
To save me taking it out and trying the Atom i have i have, anyone here reckon ive a brake FET out? I mean, there are three right??? Would a blown fet still give me some braking, or would it not work period?
If i have blown FETs, anyone here UK based able to fit new ones on the Novak Cyclone? Its been a long time since i mucked about with vintage electrics.

bests.........lee

Yes mate, but tried it with spikes not long ago and not much better, really weird, i thought if a FET was blown id have zero, but i can dial it on and off with my KO TX.....there just weak.

The drive and braking FETs are in parallel, so if one is blown, you should still be able to run the others, provided no peripheral circuitry is damaged. You could try comparing the brakes on this to your 410, just as a sanity check. You might also try re-calibrating your Cyclone to your radio, making sure that you have no throttle/brake settings on the radio (i.e., expo at zero, EPA at 100%, etc.).

Buddy thanks for your input, mean to write you back. Solved the problem though, you'll never guess, a bit of slip on the rear diff, luckily id not gunned or used her hard, so the pully is cool, a quick strip down and adjust, bam, went like stink, super brakes too now, car had a nice shakedown and is now ready for some light indoor meets soon! I cant let it sit on the shelf now, i need to drive it!

Really enjoyed this build. I have a 94 to do, so hopefully I can get mine to a similar standard.

Glad to hear its been used for what it was made for and not just an ornament, sure you'll have lots of fun

Aww, thanks bud, its nice to inspire, DerbyDan was my main drive, even though he has a bells and whistles Masami lol, he spurred me on with his level of perfection.
I look forward to your 94 project, never tire of seeing these cars, and i have to say, id love to see your paint design on a YZ10 shell, would look killer!

Thanks buddy. The shell and tray are Mr Lexan, which i think are OOP now?
At least, i dont think he's producing any shells at the moment. Ken Reith on here does a lovely YZ10 shell though, its softer than the OE ones, but the fit is superb.
I had one, but had a massive Faskolor fail (bloody hate that paint) so had to bin it, but ill be ordering another from Ken soon.
There are the TBG shells, which are great for quality, but a horrible tight fit due to shrinkage, i really struggled with the under tray hitting the servo extension area on the chassis, so that got passed on, shame, as they are nice shells, just way too small IMO.

Strange how some of these vintage Yokomo parts are probably worth more than their weight in drugs.
