JConcepts WINS at Round 3 of the FSORS
The Florida state off-road series is now into midseason and their latest stop was the famed track at LakePark in Tampa, Florida. This track is maintained by Hurricane RC Club who always puts on a fantastic show. The layout had good flow, some large jumps and a buttery smooth surface.
Even at first glance you could tell that a lot of work had gone into track prep and the layout. The entries were very strong (just shy of 200) with drivers coming down from as far away as South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia. The popularity of this track is certainly no secret. As the sun started to heat the track, the traction really came around hard. The smooth surface began to take rubber really quickly and even after the first few heats a good groove was starting to develop. Qualifying got off to a great start with JConcepts driver JR Mitch setting TQ in both 1/8th Expert Buggy and 1/8th Expert Truck. More sun and a thicker groove meant that the 2nd round was quite a bit faster than the first. JR mounted up a set of Yellow compound Crowbars and stepped up to the challenge by going more than 10 seconds faster, re-securing his TQ by some 8 seconds over the traveling Ryan Lopez. In 1/8th Expert Truck it was a similar situation with JR setting a blazing 2nd round time, further cementing his TQ. Local racers Sean Krause and Josh Talmmadge TQ’d the Sportsman 1/8th Buggy and Truck classes respectively both using JConcepts products. Good job! Sunday brought optimism and the start of the mains with it. The track had not seen any rain and still had a very dark groove affixed to its surface. JR got off to a good start in 1/8th Expert truck and ended up the main ahead of JConcepts drivers Nathan Wincek and Greg Smith, creating a 1-2-3 SWEEP for the Half-Ups Cross Hairs. The 1/8th Expert Buggy main wasn’t quite as easy for JR, as he had a few issues during the race. By the time he got it sorted out, he was several laps down, but was able to fight his way back to 2nd place ahead of Nathan Wincek. JP Tirronen was able to get into the lead and stretch it out on the field taking the win in 1/10th Gas Truck using Double Dees and Carvers. JR’s finished allowed him to stretch the lead on both the Expert Buggy and Truck classes. Source: JConcepts
