Just to confirm that the club only runs holeshot control tyres, does this include front tyres on a 2wd?
Also has anybody, got a good set up for a Losi XXXCR?

Front tyres for 2WD will be Proline low profile Ribs PL8175M3, Holeshots best on rear, and of course holeshots front & rear for 4WD, PL8207-02 and PL8206-02
Tyres do last well on the damp clay/dirt track. Cannot help with setup, but sure someone will, (busy weekend at PDA with dirt challenge) |

My understanding is that for this meeting (as well as the other regional they have a few weeks later) that the Proline tyres are "highly reccomended" (but not enforced) since at the regionals we do NOT have a single control tyre nominated for each venue. HOWEVER, by FAR the best tyre around that track is the Proline Holeshot we are told and there is NO reason why ALL drivers on that day will not use these out of choice anyhow, but it does mean if a newcomer turns up on the day with his "non Proline" kit tyres or similiar on his car and insists they are quicker on the track for him, he can run them at this event alone.......
For setups, try one of the standard US setups for dirt as a good starting point or even the one that the kit reccomends when it is first built, this would not be too far off a good starting point I would guess...........

Many thanks Darren and JCJC, I need to go and visit the track before the regional to decide what tyre choice is needed. Don't losi produce tyres very similar to proline (cost is about the same), I know in the late 80's the tyre to have for clay was the old Losi X pattern's.

Hi JBL
to answer your comments as Darren has all ready said. a rib tyre on the front for 2wd and holeshots on the rear are the best combination of tyre we have found. for 4wd holeshots all round. many Losi tyres have been tried by people who have hired the venue. including BK bars, taper pins step pins, studs and many more, as have many Proline tyres. But the Hole shot gives you a good run time, the tyre lasts a long time and if you do come back to the Proline Dirt arena you will have the correct tyre. We are a help full club who are only interested in you going home with a smile on your face after enjoying your days racing as are all the clubs in the region. We only ask that a dirt tyre is used and not a spike, as 1 these will rip the track up and 2 you will be slow. Please do come and see us, in fact I would advise any body to come and race at the track other wise you will give your self a big disadvantge when it comes to the meeting. Differant surface and a very differant type of track. hope this helps you Phill T |
