Default Pred in 2008?

I can't be the only one asking what this year holds for the Pred.

With Threads about them not having any team drivers set up is the PR really that bad for this company?

Will a company rep step up and state what is happening?

Will Northy's departure usher the end of a 4WD legend?

The future looked so bright for the X11 then it just faded off into the mist....

Can someone shed some light on this please?

they are ace cars but if i was spending £400 would it be :-
  1. Pred
  2. Serpent
  3. Aero
  4. Atomic Carbon S44.
not sure why but every time the pred is at the bottom of the list

if i had the money.. i WOULD definately buy an x11... the x10 was/is an awesome car! and the x11 seems to have ironed out the kinks that the x10 has

sadly, im a student, £400 doesnt just float around!

Hi,

I would sugest that the future is bright for the X11, Like anything it takes time, and people move on and want a change so may leave a team but then there are alway drivers going the other way

If you have any questions about the pred drop on to www.the-pred.co.uk or phone Lewis at Xtreme or by all means pm me and i will help out if i can.

Kind Regards

Franki

I like the Pred. I've always wanted one
I think the chassis layout is way ahead of it's time.
The only down side about all preds, is that the Parts are scares & expencive IMO.
And I'm sure they are involved with a bunch of great drivers.
With a top driver; This car could be at the top food chain.

As for the future...
mayby we'll see a nice thin' carbon pred on the go.
like a 3X2.
As it seems that all the new chassis are narower & narower as they come out. (aaahhh what dreams are made of)
(at this rate the cars are gonna look like my EZ-start soon) lol

the pred was way ahead of its time a few years ago, but although geometry has change a bit here and there they still struggle on certain tracks. I have spoken to team drivers about the pred and they have said its as quick if not quicker than any car on the market on a flying lap, but it can bite you if you push a little too much.

its a shame as this is one of the "special" cars that everyone likes or liked at one point.

The pred was always one of those cars that if you drove clean tidy laps and it rewarded you will good laptimes, i always found if you pushed too hard it would bite at the wrong time and chuck you off the track.

I loved racing the Pred in my last season of running, the car did me very well and there wasn't one track in the National series it struggled with, but then at that time Neil was running one, as was CraigD plus the others such as Mr Alsop etc.

Pidge used my car the next year to win the F2's so i think he liked it too back then.

Shame if they don't get on and get some drivers as they'll never raise the profile of the car again!

I wouldn't think so - there were loads of little things you could do but once the car was working we rarely had to change it! We'd change the roll bar and the odd shock oil here and there but mainly it just worked, high or low grip!

not even that

i did 35-30 losi pistons at tivy to 50 all rounds for kiddy
i think indoors was tivy set up on yellow spikes inasted of mini pins

keeping the diffs going was more of the issue over the set up

just thorow it in dift in power out, done lol

It has been mentioned by better drivers than me, that the current layout of the car with the batteries mounted at the front causes all of the bump handling issues that drivers experience and that the cars are basically too fast now for that layout.

The single biggest problem with the Predator car is the history of it. People are just not prepared to give it a chance - everybody knows that when it was new it won at all manner of events, but it was the colin mcrae of model cars. if it didn't crash, it won..and when it crashed it broke.

T.Tech and now Team Extreme have worked hard to remedy the problems with the car, for example:-
  • The transmission on the X10 (and i guess the X11) is bullet proof - such was the faith in the X10 gearbox, it was guaranteed.
  • The quality of some of the parts, namely the drilling of the front gearbox tops, was a problem with the X10 but that has been sorted out now due to the gearbox top being a two piece affair
  • The spur gear is now stronger and made from the correct material (and now has the right number of teeth for the profile)
I don't think the pred will die, it just needs to evolve from the current design, but preferably not into a BJ4we clone!

I would happily run one if i was doing 4wd again, it's a car i still think has the ability to cause upsets purely down to the cornering speed it can carry!

Neil Cragg at Kiddy with the Pred was just about unbeatable - you'd struggle to get a car round as quick now as he could back then, honestly it was silly fast between the corners!

Haha it was just silly fast though - loved the fact that you lined it up each lap and just pinned it, the thing nearly took off!!!

Hopefully you'll have it fixed for the next one then and sort out that speedo as that was making it really hard to drive

im keeping hold of my pred, although ive just bought a B44... the thing is, for me, the pred is such an exciting car to drive! its just the reliability of it sometimes. however i reckon this has been sorted on the x11!..

if i find that im only going fractions quicker with the b44 than i was doing with the pred... then ill go back to the pred!

i really do like it that much!! its the same with the losi when compared to the b4 with me.... although i was marginally faster with the b4, the losi was just more fun and more rewarding to drive...

live long and prosper team extreme and the X11... ill drive an X11 if team extreme want me to
