Batley Buggy Club hadn't been used for a good while leading up to the regional - various floods, storms and vandalism had reduced this once great track into a real mess. Some heroic hard work from a dedicated few managed to get the rostrum restored to usable condition - with the steps relocated to the end. The main straight and clay corner were however out of use because of the poor condition of these areas. We just popped in to say hi and take a few photographs - with the plan of attending the next days 4WD event at batley. The very nice Adam Skelding of EDIT showed me the new GRP 'conespike' tyres that everyone is talking about. These are fairly similar to the Schumacher Mini Spike tyres that have been the mainstay of racing in the UK for many years, with a compound that seems to be similar to Schumachers 'Yellow'. What GRP have done however is make them better, with a consistent carcass and spike, AND cheaper - a combination that seems to have gained them rapid acceptence. Anyway - here are the few photos we got, enjoy: |
