Southport 4WD National 28-05-06

Southport is always wet, that is the conclusion I have come to. I have been to 4 Nationals here and it has always been a moist affair. The week prior to the event, and indeed week before that, it had rained almost non stop, so the field was a little like a bog. We bought a load of plastic sheeting to put our tent on which helped but still walking around was a muddy affair.

The usual long straight wasn't in use in 2wd, and it was a twisty layout. With the wet conditions most of the day you didn't need much power.

There was a Mid motor car (last photo) being driven which looked 'OK' but it was dropped in favour of the regular car later on. A couple of other Mid motor losi cars were in attendance but hidden away and not used in the racing, these looked a lot more profesional with vastly different chassis and weight balance, would have been interesting to see those race.

with no neil cragg in attendance, Richard Taylor won the event with his XXXCR, Lee Martin was 2nd with Stu wood 3rd. All drivers taking 1 leg of the A final a peice.
