Batleys annual indoor Supercup event was held on Sunday February 17th, 2008. The event had a good turn out with 11 qualifying heats. The heating wasn't working early in the day so conditions on the polished sections were very slippy! things got better later in the day when the hall warmed up after the heating was fixed - but dropped off for the finals. The track was a challenging but racable layout on a mixture of carpet, slipper polished floor and gym mats.
Team oOple manager John Price kindly conducted some interviews with a few of the events top attendees.

2WD A Final
Drama from the start of the 2WD A final when Phill Channon pulled a wheelie - Stuart Wood in number 6 had no where to go and slid gracefully into the wall at the end of the straight - putting him out before the first corner of the race - oops.
Xfactory driver and top qualifier Tom Cockerill was driving well but a crash put him down the order. Ben Riley took up the lead and drove superbly to keep a hard-chasing Paul Bradby (worlds A finalist) and Tom Cockerill at bay.
Coming onto the last couple of laps, Paul Bradby was pulling all his tricks out of the bag to try and get past Ben, but couldn't manage it - eventually though the pressure paid off. Ben came over the last jump with the finish line and victory only a couple of seconds away but crashed - allowing Paul through for the win right on the line. Terrible luck for Ben but Paul drove extremely well to race so close and sneak the victory. Awesome racing.

4WD A Final
Phil Sleigh got away from pole and looked to pull a little gap on the field but Richard managed to catch up and the fight was on. The two were well matched but a mistake from Phil allowed Richard to take the lead and he didn't look back - though he surely needed to! Phil gave it everything he had and closed back up on Richard with only a couple of laps to go. The pair swapped places on the couple of corners after the straight, but Phil couldn't get make it stick. Coming over the challenging double in front of the drivers stand to finish the race - Phil gave it one last mad dash to try and make a pass but it wasn't to be. Richard Lowe won with his JConcepts BJ4we, with Phil Sleigh second with his Hot Bodies D4 only 0.4 of a second behind. Steve Lawson (winner in 2006) took the last podium spot.
