I can't remember exact figures, but last year I think it was roughly £400 for flights and the big mansion of a hotel room we had was $120 a night. We were a bit last minute on the flights though so they could have been ~£50 cheaper.
Tyres should be available at the event, rears are $11 a pair (inc inserts) and you don't need a new set a run. If we're using Barcodes they should last a while :)

18-07-2008, 03:56 PM
how many nights u there rich
Rich didnt you room share with lee? So that would make things alot cheaper :)
Richard Lowe
18-07-2008, 04:02 PM
Err 5 I think, I think we realised later if we'd stayed a couple of nights longer the flights would have been a lot cheaper and overall cost would have been about the same. Oh well, live and learn :)
Yeah Ben the room we had was massive, you could have slept 5/6 people depending on how gay you wanted to be :o
depending on how gay you wanted to be :o
COOL!!!!!
How long do a pair of ribs last on the front of a 2wd depending on the grip?

How long do a pair of ribs last on the front of a 2wd depending on the grip?
Forever! The longer you use them the more grip you get
We started off with a pair of groovy's, and by the time the rack had rubbered in they had worn down to be rounders. I put a new set on mid-event but went back to the old set.

In the US you pay per room instead of per person like we do over here. The room we had last year was about 3x the size of a normal travel lodge room with 2x double beds and a kitchen/dining room with sofa. Was almost like an apartment haha :)
Rich are u gonna send your entry off in the post or wait till the online one comes out?

The prices to fly from Manchester are fairly similar, the flight goes via Philadelphia. Heathrow adds more travel time anyway for the Northerners, although has the benefit of 30 planes taking off per minute. Or is it one plane every 30 seconds? I forget...

Orlando is closer to 4-5 hours! I hope to see a lot of you Brits there. The track should be dialed. I have not raced there even though I live in Florida. I have heared a lot of good things about the track. It should be just as good as Lake Park was Lee. I was the other guy running an X-6 Lee. See you guys there.

A few of us have got flights booked now, we just have to figure out how we're going to get everyone to Heathrow without all having to drive down seperately :eh?:

Our flight leaves on Tuesday the 16th Lee, with or without Ben :D
We need to decide what we're doing about car hire either at Worksop or on MSN. I don't think we'll all fit in Lee's shed :p
i was going to get a 2 seater just for 1 reason.
I have had ben in the back of a car before:thumbdown::thumbdown:
(not in a gay way though)
he has to be the most annoying pasenger ever
but then i remembered i have an F8 hauler and that can be his substitute

Good to hear everyone is getting their reservations sorted out. If anyone needs more information feel free to ask. Ive been to the track several times this year so I might be helpful.
What tyre's are we gonna be on andy? Oh and do they come with foams?
Ben:thumbsup:
They will ben
I`d imagine double dee`s but that might change when it grooves up
Who's got double D's?:eh?: Oh sorry the tyre's
Richard Lowe
25-09-2008, 09:47 AM
I'd guess we'll be on Double Dees then move to Barcodes as it grooves. Groovy's on the front of 2wd although theres a video up on Youtube that shows Jasons B4 with Double Dees up front, the track did look slippy with no groove though.

you need to put the CODE - in this case dIFIP2DIohg - between the tags. not the url to the video. :)

Ben:thumbsup:
I think Double Dees should work at first and then Bar Codes later on in the weekend. They all come with quality foams, but as you start to run Bar Codes you might want to consider 2-stage inserts.
Andy, will there be a shop present again this year?

Andy, will there be a shop present again this year?
If there isnt a shop physically at the track, there is fairly large one only a few blocks away from the track.

At the other events Ive been to there they have brought product, but only a minor amount. I think they might be convinced to have something more substantial for the Clash, although thats not confirmed. I didnt want to have any false advertising, haha.
James,
This was the only thing that i thought couls have been better at last years event, there was a shop there but it was minimal as he flew in for the event. They guy was a top bloke though  Maybe this is just the way it is in the US. I would say PBM at worksop had twice as much stock with them, just to give you an idea.
Think im going to enter for the J82's aswell :eh?:
ben are you having your own private jet again, for your baggage
Yeh isnt it yours though lee :woot:
i cant afford planes ben  im still poor

Will the track layout be changed for the clash comared to what its like on the photo's mr lowe posted? Which is the prefered car over in america on dirt? The B4 or the X6? Is Bens going to be the first cat seen in America if it is no presure Ben.:woot:
Benji,
They were both designed for dirt, and if i can get my X6 going like paul sinclairs at the clash last year i will be a happy boy, i think the x6 jumps a lot better than the b4 with the 4 gear box and i think chazz, paul and BK will be there to lend a hand as well as some of the uk team including international superstar multiple european A finalist, Tom maximum commitment cockerill.
Nahhh spence i think there is a couple of guys off the forum running them across the pond  Will be my first ever race on dirt... im scared :woot:
Hmmm i dno what to do now lol, do i get a B4 or stick with the X6....:o

Youre going to have to tear your pit down every night. The track layout will be significantly different from what is shown in Richard's photos. The B4 sells about 50 to 1 against the X6 here, so you can imagine my response on that. There isnt anything wrong with either car...its all down to the driver. I doubt there will be internet available at the track other than those people who are bringing their air cards.

The race is still 3 months off...:p
There will be some MAJOR American committments upcoming ;)

maybe all the americans deserted the clash
'cos they realised the all the drivers in the A-Mains would be GB :p:lol:
For those who haven't been before, bring an old body shell for practice, you are on track at the same time as 1/8 and truggies ;)

We have a provisional layout worked up, it should be going in pretty soon. The problem is that the track is several hours from our shop, so we cant micro-manage it, haha. There are about 30 more entries signed up on rcsignup.com that havent paid (so we cant upload them to the list). AE should be out in full force, but we havent recieved and exact list from them yet.

I hope this race turns in to the new Losi Winterchamps were they get 200- 300 entries. If the AE team will be out in full force, maybe Tebo, Cav and the gang will show this year. I wish Losi would send some of their big guns too! It will be a blast this year regardless. See you all in down here in sunny Florida in about 4 weeks!

Tebo should be onto his Kyosho deal, so I dont think he's going to make it. Cavalieri is and unlikely attendee also. Thielke, Ruona, Mitch, Maifield, Martin, Bradby, Skidmore (maybe), Eckert are coming from the AE camp. More news to follow soon!
