View Full Version : Ko 2.4 vs 40 mhz
Ok sorry if this has been posted somewhere else. Ive been running spektrum for last 18months and have have had problems with glitching and stuff. Then at the weekend i was running 40mhz for the first time in along time and i could really tell the difference in the response time compared to the spektrum. So what im wanting to know is if the ko 2.4gig system is as quick as the 40mhz stuff?
Thanks ben

hey up dude. I was running the KO Spektrum combo this year, and finally gave up on it due to constant glitching/car stopping and starting during a race (and i tried changing everything). i went to 40mhz, and it stopped instantly.
I've just gone to Futaba Faast 2.4ghz, cos i can't see how it's possible to get interference on that system (preparing to eat my words), with the way it's designed
Thanks for the reply stan. Were you using a digital servo with the KO system?

I have been running the futaba 2.4 gig system for 18 months now and it is fantastic it was a bit pricey but well worth it. And Craggy is using it now so it must be good. PS well done Ben for this weekend.

The really weird thing is I now have Stan's gear and it's been fine (uh oh, now what have I done!)
I run non-spread spectrum versions of the GTB and KO 2413 & 2368 servos in my B44 & B4.
I've even run it in a FTX Blaze with Tekin mini rage brushless and it ran fine.
I do run the power caps on the receivers, but Stan gave me them as well!
I doubt that this is much help, but thought I'd share my experience with the same KO & Spectrum gear that Stan had.

have you run them at national level?

have you run them at national level?
Only at mid west regional level so not as many people there as a national. Also did a meeting at Talywain which was where you had your worst glitching wasn't it?

i never got interference at regionals :bored:

Hmm, I'll have to try and race at a national next year, purely in the interest of scientific research naturally ;)

At nationals arn't transmitters left in a compond ????
The futaba 2.4ghz stuff is top notch not had one glitch, must be the twin arial technology with no blindspots;) With my KO helios i had allsorts of glitching with spRECTUM:p with and without capacitor but no problems with the 40mhz.
hmm i dont know what to do:cry: Cos it's so nice having the luxury of not having to change crystals and put your aerial up and ask people what crystal they are on for practice. But then again if 40mhz is faster.. oh dear im so confused :S

You need to get your region to run to timed practise in heat order Ben, that way you won't have to shout Xtals at ppl!!
I didnt want to go spectrum because of the lag/delay in response, Ko state there 2.4 system is as quick as a crystal, i have run it for 3 meetings now and its been great, apart from once there the receiver un bound itself but thats only a 10 second job.
Im really impressed with it and can tell no difference between it and a crystal
Right then. Thanks for the reply's looks like it will have to be the KO 2.4 system then
the best thing about the KO system is, its the same price as the crystal version and the recievers are cheaper

Do you have to get the 3VCS to use fasst?
Where can you get the KO one from? Can you buy it with the universe 3, instead of 40mhz?
Yes Ian DMS had mine with me the next day

i've just bought the 3gr with faast, much cheaper than the 3vcs :)
the best thing about the faast system, is that it's constantly shifting the frequency it's (taken from the website, it's hundreds of times per second), it must surely be almost impossible to get interference, or at the very least, not notice it if you do get it for that millisecond?

Awesome, those receivers look tiny. Now i just have to convince the mrs i 'need' it
Get it sent to work, then place it in the transmitter case you currently use, she will never know the difference.
I used to have all my cars sprayed the same for this reason

Is there any real difference between that and the 3vc then?

The only thing i don't like about the futaba system is the size of the 2.4 receiver, hope they come out with a micro version.

probably, but i doubt anything you'll ever need on a surface vehicle

How do people find living with the aerial coming out the back of the KO 2.4GHz module? Can you lay it down on its back okay without worrying about damaging the aerial? If I had to leave my transmitter stood up on my pit table it would probably get knocked over at some point, would this bust the aerial?
Can the aerial be tucked behind the carry handle? looks so vulnerable sticking out behind.
