Nice work Ash....
Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I think you might have the rear shock tower brace of the wrong side of the tower. The side you currently have it on (rear) also moves the top position of your shocks. It looks like it should be on the front side of the tower.
Perhaps current X-5/XX5 owners could comment.

He's fine Phil, the brace doesn't fit on the front (it goes down to where the front of the tower angles forwards), I just swapped to the shorter shock bushing on the top screws to get them back into position!:thumbsup:
Assuming its the same brace anyway, I use the E-speed one!
Yeh good work ash. Im with phil on this one... think it should be on the front of the tower;)

That sounds like a good answer to a simple query.
It's been a long day and my eyes aren't quite as focussed as they should be. ;)
If you do as Dave says and run the shorter shock bushing, then the mounting position shouldn't be effected too much.
In fact, looking at pictures of Ellis's X-5, then yes it should be on the back, just looked a bit odd at first glance.
Anyway back to topic..... Ash, how is the LiPo in your XX4?

Confirmed it's should be on the back else you can't use the bottom mounting screw for the lower wing mounting hole. The eyelets you can either use the shorter one or just turn the eyelet thing round so there is no offset to the front but excess to the back. You do need longer screws ideally to ensure you get all the way through the nyloc on the nut and not have to tighten it up too much binding the top of the shock up.

I think you stole that idea from me yea i did that i have the trinity ones and i use a lower profile shok bushing.

Yea its the E speed one i broke my fibrelyte one.
Im still to try it phil im going to run it on sunday at the bcl have a play around with positions of weight and setup etc but its still a little under weight.

I did connect it the wrong way round this afternoon but it was ok lol Ill put some red heat shrink around the pos one later. The reason ive never had an problems before is with NIMH the Negative wire woudnt reach the posative terminal of my cells.

Well the words intersting come to mind lol
first race it oversteered like mad so to counter this i turned my steering down to 40% this was using good ballistics on the back and okish yellows on the front. So for round 2 i added a thurther 25 grams to the rear of the car and moved some of the lead previously in the car right to the back. Then i added a spare NIMH cell to the front battery position. Went out And again was ok but still oversteered a bit to much for my liking. So i put Green front springs on and turned my steering up to 50% and it was much better. It had alot of power but it has lost its ability of riding the bumps. .so im thinking of laying some led under the cells to try and get the car up to full NIMH weight And ballance and run my std setup.

It was at about 8 oclock at night and really damp if i had put ballistics on the front it would just oversteer more.

In Ashley's defence, the Osfest regional track, when late at night, is very very random. That tyre choice isn't as bad as you'd think....

that said, how can you expect a balanced car if you are not running the same compound front and rear, even worse, a different brand and tread pattern??
and turning steering rate down to 40%?? have you even got enough lock or do you need to do a 3-point turn?
to me, the following things are a no go area in the setup world
- steering rate anything less than 85%
- mixing compounds and tread pattern front and rear, 4WD especially (might let that happen on dirt)

yes, and I am never happy with the way it feels, but since BB don't make a 2wd front anymore I am kind of stuck with it.
even that is an 'attempt' at 'matching' them using green/green as they are the most similar compounds between the brands.
