Hi everyone

Just wondering is anyone can confirm which belt comes with the X-5^2, i think i read it the XXX4 belt and not the xxxs belt as in the original car, if thats the case, can anyone confirm that the belt widths do differ between xxx4 and xxxs, and if the xxxs belt can be run in the squared version by adjusting the idlers etc, oh and if anyone happens to know the lengths of the two belts, that would be very handy

both can be run in a squared version, the xxx4 belt I'm sure is 1mm wider than xxxs and slightly longer, we had to adjust the double roller to take up the extra belt length in using the xxx4+ belt, hope that helps

You may be surprised but I've never actually had a full kit in it's true form so I'm only 99% sure rather than 100% that it's the XXXs belt.

The XXX4 belt's single biggest difference is that it's longer (as XXX4 chassis is longer than XXXS chassis). This means to take up the slack you either must run a dual pulley system to increase the wrap round the pulleys and file the tensioner bar screw slos a little to move the tensioner bar backward to take up the slack, OR run the stock pulleys and file the tensioner slots much further back. This doesn' foul or anything, there is no problem.

In my opinion I used to find that I got less skip on a XXX4 belt, I Think it's about 1/2mm wider and 1/2mm thicker. However since the machined pulleys (come with conversion now for some time) skip is MUCH less of an issue. If you make the 'hold down roller' mod which most people run, then I think you'll find you'll get no skip.

The belt in my car, was installed at the start of last season (when built car just before indoor finals) and not changed since, I have zero belt skip.

thanks bigred that does help, im guessing running stock, it would be worth getting the sedan belt then, it should have less resistance

edit: i was typing this as you put ur post up dan, ok so the kit comes with the sedan belt, thats good news, as i say, with stock, belt skip shouldnt be a drama.

And dan thanks for all your help so far, every time i've put a thread up or posted another question you've popped up with valuable help, i got my kit the other day, i had some new xx4 parts like shocktowers, arms and bumpers, so it'll look pretty fresh when im finished, i've dremeled the battery post holders so i can run the stick lipo and have adapted a xxxt battery strap to hold it down and ive tapped all the threads. im going to run the xx4 diff gears and pulley to get a taller internal ratio, i'll have it ready for the weekend, and take it racing at a club meet on sunday

LOL, it was an unpaid announcement, and there are lots of helpful people here (yourself included dms) that have offered answers to questions i was posing before i even had my kit, which i probably could have worked out once i got the kit, but i wanted to have everything ready to go when i built it, i'll have it done for the weekend, i hope to be able to report back to you all with some positivie results soon

Thanks
