I'm planning to purchase some new shorty lipos.
I've noticed that some model shops are selling these new 7.6v lihv batteries.
Mb models are selling these....
Anyone had any experience with these high voltage lipos?
Can you charge them with your typical lipo charger at 7.4v?
Opinions please

Hi the 7.6 lipo can just be charged to 8.5v not limited to 8.4v
But if ur racing at nationals you can use them if they are on the list but you can only charge to 8.4 also might the rule at ur club
As for charger any lipo charger will work it's just some have adjustable end voltage so u can increase it to 8.5v . If u already have a normal lipo charger it will be fine , it just has its end voltage set to 8.4v
This info above is very very wrong, ref usage and charging volts.
In brca global rules you are restricted to 4.2 volts per cell, so a 2s would be 8.4 max charge rate, this applies to every brca member just like lipo charge sack. It your seen going over 8.4 and reported, expect to loose your licence
To answer the original post you need to charge to 8.4, but that does not wake up the cells to gain any benfit. At 8.4 they are just a normal pack and work/charge the same

If you race in 1/10th off-road nationals and are tested at over 8.4 and you cannot get it down to 8.4 before your race, you do not get through scrutineering.
Quite often it is the charger/settings that push the voltage higher and it's not intentional. You will not "loose your licence"
Maybe it is different in other classes where people need to cheat but 1/10 off-road drivers will just use a faster motor

Hi please can I ask you RE read my post, if you are reported, then expect to loose your licence, (as in the brca exec) if you want to question this further please email me at

Have you done a 1/10th off road national?
This class does not have cheaters, the rules are open. For your information I've been in scrutineering with Keith Wardle, BRCA secretary, my point was (which you should RE read)
Your attitude towards people on this forum is atrocious. You come across nasty, bullying and frankly you're putting people off.

I'm a little confused:confused: as to why the .2 increase. Is there a reason behind this, maybe safety or are the rules going to change.
Does anyone know why.
Cheers all.

Is that 8.4v charge rule because the battery itself is only designed to take 8.4v?
If thats the case I wonder why they made a battery that can now safely be charged higher 😬
Some mite say its evolution and the reason rules change now and again

Yes i have done an off road national, the rules on lipo voltage are not open, its clear in the general rules and eb rules. 4.2 volts per cell maximum.
It applies to all brca members, from club to national. Any class
If your sure there are no cheaters, why do you have scruteneering?

Nominal voltage was raised to allow the hv lipos, its .3 volts on 2s, they are bi product of lipo develpoment, im told there are no plans to raise charge max voltage so these cell become benificial by the brca exec. Where safety will remain paramount.

Hey all
Ok so nominal voltage has changed to allow the HV Cells however the maximum charge voltage hasn't.
I spoke in-depth with the EB Chairman over this and there is no plan to increase the maximum voltage and that's purely to give a greater safety margin, there also maybe a slight increase in the life of the lipos.
As this is in general rules, these overrule/supercede any section rules and are applicable to every and any section and BRCA member.
Hope that clears this up
