After reading the lipo list for offroad many times can anyone tell me if the dl5000 demon lipo with side exiting wires what i used for indoor touring racing is ok to use.I also run yeah racing 3200 lipos which i purchased from ebayer shop dinball whick is a stick but the wires exit at the front ,is this legal,if none of these are legal it looks like i,m the only one who will still race nimh,s as my finances are dead due to my reduced working week and can't afford new lipos for this season.please pm me to help clear this up.many thanks

Jon,

I dont think the Demon one with the side wire exit is legal. The BRCA list shows the alternative one with the wires exiting from the short end. I think they actualy share the same Yuntong part number of YT90018 though and I know that Yuntong do make two versions. Were they sold to you as being BRCA legal? If so you may have grounds to return it for replacement.

I cannot see the Yeah Racing battery any where on the list so it cannot be legal.

Thanks for the reply, the demon dl5000(side exit wires) is currently on sale at the demon web site saying that it is legal for brca.It doesn't say which section but i purchased it last year for my indoor touring car racing as it was the most used.Looks like i'm at a disadvantage this year on the power war. :(

Jon,

I too have the Demon DL5000 (as well as a couple of the Yeah Racing packs like yourself).

As I read the rules, the DL5000 is still legal to use in TC as the TC board is allowing anything on the '08 TC list to be used under Grandfather rights or the '09 full BRCA list to be used this year. The offroad section is only allowing anything on the '09 list to be used (there is a section at the end of the '09 list that details the batteries that were on the '08 TC list that have also passed the testing etc. for the '09 list).

Do remember though that this list is for meeting run to full BRCA rules (Regionals, Nationals etc.) so as long as your club doesn't insist on using the list for their racing you'll be fine.

This is a bugger, I have the DL4000 with side exit wiring, they fit fine in my Durga. I'm not buying new ones, I'll just not attend any brca events, saves me money.

as they are brca legal for tc, he has no come back, there just not on the EB list which makes them no good for off road!

i have no problem with demon they provide a great service but the granfather system is a little flawed as they ok last year for tc and tbh no advantage ok for tc this year but off road where lipos make no difference beyond the 4000 packs there illegall is a bit daft, a years grace may have been sufficent for racers to get a set of now legal packs im not bitching at either party just think a little more compasion was used thats all, i think the brca do a fantastic job with little or no thanks and the retailers trying there best in lets face it the worst market for decades

yup it would be nice to allow the old packs in off road but off road has agreed to use only the EB list.

dont forget tho, this only applies to brca sanctioned meetings, clubs can choose to use the touring/eb list

simple answer to his question is No there not

Hi guys, I fell foul of the same situation, having just upgraded to LiPos I bought some DL4000s as they were BRCA legal in TC last year, only to find that they are not this year. I contacted Nick Adams at Demon about this, who confirmed that this is due to them exceeding the maximum sidth set by the BRCA as a result of the side exit wires.:(

Anyway, I'll use these for club racing and I've now bought 2 sets of the Demon 3600s that are BRCA legal for '09 that I'll use in the Regionals. Should be fine.

Paul.

Thanks for all the answers for the info regarding the demon dl5000 lipo.Looks like i will have to buy some 4000 lipos(will these be ok for zx5 & rb5) or get use to quilifying in the bottom finals as i get pushed over like normal to let the faster guys thro,oh sod it get passed me if you can boy i'll still put up a fight,it pleases me when less expensive equipment can mix it with people who have the money.I'll go racing for fun so i don't have to cook sunday lunch and do the washing up.bring on the racing .

I am in the same boat as I now have 3 dl5000 packs thinking that they would be BRCA legal under the grandfather system. I cannot beleive that I am again in the same position that I was in last year with my East Power cells!
