Nice! The wheels, the immaculate chassis, the white nylon... true RC porn:drool::woot: Amazing paint Job too!
I also have an RC10 CE, bought well beaten and after some TLC, brung to a new life as a shelf queen and a roller.
I just love it, the handling is amazing, it's still one of the very best cars I've ever driven on a smooth track. :wub:wub:blush::lol:
That is proper lush!
And I particularly like your Composite Craft RC10 :)

Thanks for the comments gents, I feel very lucky to own it:)
I particularly like your Composite Craft RC10 :)
Unfortunately the Composite craft car is no longer, it has evolved into the model shown below, another never ran new build with many Andy's upgrades.

I won't ever run these models as the chassis are so easily damaged. I have a number of other vintage models that I run which are not in such pristine condition including both gold and black tub RC10s and a Graphite RC10 to mention only a couple;)
How could you
That ones cool too though

First of of all you need to know which tub you want, there are a few different version A,B,C, black, gold or powder coated (to name but a few) each one is applicable for different models and different eras.
Depending on which version you want will depend on how much it's going to cost you (and it will cost you), the interest in collecting RC10s has gone stratospheric in the last three years or so.
Unless you are lucky enough to happen upon one there's probably only one other place you have any real chance of getting one :-
http://www.rc10talk.com/
You'll need to spend some time there contributing to the forum first before you can obtain access to their buy/sell/trade section but it's worth it if you need old Associated parts.
The only problem is all the guys there are chasing new tubs and parts to.
There is another option:-http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj87/LAZERZX/ASSOCIATED/rc10tub.jpg

Simplistically the first gold tubs produce were not stamped, the next were stamped with an "A" these were drilled and counter sunk for 6 gear transmissions only. Then the "B" chassis which were drilled and counter sunk for 6 gear and Stealth transmissions, the "C" chassis were a little different some were almost identical to the "B"s and some were drilled for both transmissions but only counter sunk for stealth, the shades of gold anodising also varied (it can be quite a task getting a chassis, nose plate and motor mount all with the same shade of gold:rolleyes:) There are more differences but these are the main ones.
The ones you see on my cars pictured above are "B" chassis, for comparison the one below on my Andys Truck conversion is a new "A" chassis.

I also have a new, unused and unmounted gold "C" chassis:woot:;)

I was only joking maybe I picked the wrong smiley, however you do need to find someone wanting to sell one first. You're going to be looking at anything between £50 - £150 depending on the version and if the vendor knows what they're selling;)

I sold an NIP one to Bigbison at the end of last year. Dunno if he ever used it. I knew what I had, what I paid for it (£50 from the States) and what it was probably worth but to be honest, as it was a "gold" goldtub (not the fluro-orangey-gold ones that you see more of) I was happy to be shot of it. The big prob was that I couldn't find a new nosepiece for it, then I came across a new built rolling chassis on fleabay which I bagged for more or less the same money so it was surplus to requirements. Vintage RC10 bits seem to be like Losi shocks, they are about but you need to be in the right place at the right time because they don't hang about.
I didn't realise Fibre-Lyte did a moulded tub but now I've seen it my wallet is shaking ;).

think of getting it as a runner. (pls don't be cheeky and BIN before i have a chance :p )
What generation is the chassis from? Is it worth it?

In my opinion, if you want one as a runner, you must get a stealth gearbox for it. I've never owned a 6 gear but to keep running require a lot of work and finding parts i.e. the idlers etc and the spurs. The stealth in mine was perfect when \I bought it and has done a winter of vintage and an 1/6th of an endurance race and is still bang on.
Also the later long wishbone cars handle so much better, though the short ones can be as fun, though for comedy value potentially.

hey thanks for the reply, didnt mean as a racer, just as an occasional runner. More interested in wether the carbon chassis and hop up parts are anything special and when are they dated from, i cant seem to find anything out about it..
Excuse my ignorance - just learning - can't i buy the stealth trans afterwards? more interested in the chassis and looking to customise/freshen this a bit. Like wise with the wishbones, are the ones on here the longer or shorter? I think it includes the originals..

Graphite was the last version of the 6 gear I think, pretty old though! No idea on the wishbones, I'm not that into them to know but someone will do.

The car has Andy's A-arms in front - which were popular aftermarket long wishbones. The original short front wishbones are _really_ short - in fact they are about as long front-to-back as they are wide.
I can't tell if that chassis is also drilled out for the stealth gearbox from the photo, but I'd imagine it would be. I believe that all but the earliest gold tub chassis had the holes for stealth boxes.
The 6-gear is a complicated and perhaps not terribly efficient piece of machinery - but the sound is legendary... until you start mashing idle gears. The diff is also very hard to keep clean and smooth, as it lives in the spur. Luckily idle gears are still available new. I love and race the 6 Gear...
I'm personally not so sure about that purple/green action though... But hey, to each his own!

Andy also made short front arms but as you quite rightly say tymill these are the long ones.
The chassis looks to me like an early graphite which were not drilled for stealth and are quite sort after in unscratched condition.
Personally I'm not keen on the 6 gear transmissions but I can appreciate the retro feel and noise, however I wouldn't want one as my only original RC10 runner.
For my money there's nothing on that car that attracts me, for a first original RC10 runner I would hold out for a Stealth CE or Team Car, there's more tubs about than graphites so they're cheaper and no real benefit to graphite chassis anyway, they tend to be to flexible and this I believe was the reason why the later Worlds Car was a tub.

Don't suppose anyone has either a black motor plate or set of cvd's for a worlds/CE? I have a gold motor plate at the moment on my more or less worlds spec car, but really after a black one to match the rest of the car.

Hey,
I think i am starting to figure out the different chassis and releases out there.
For the Stealth CE, I'd be looking at a black tub version right?

is a 6037 Worlds Car?

The car in the link looks like it started life an late 6011 CE (black parts) but has some modifications, the chassis is a C (no countersinking for the 6 gear transmission) It is not a Worlds Car these are supplied with black milled chassis only and Team Cars were only sold with black or carbon chassis.
The one you have linked would make a very nice runner, it's fitted with some practical modifications including the rear drive shafts and ball raced steering.
I'm pretty sure CE's were never supplied with black chassis but you never know with Associated sometimes they just put the bits in a box put a sticker on it and sent it out:lol:
