I am considering purchasing one of these ESC's - I have read a lot about them on here from when they were newly released. From what I remember it was not all good. So, now they have been around a while and the software appears to have been updated a couple of times, what is the current feeling about the systems?
How do they compare to the LRP sphere or Novak GTB for performance/reliability and eae of use etc.?
Thanks!

The new software makes the ESC feel like an LRP, and i have had no issues with reliability. The V2 updates make the brakes a lot stronger and get rid of any glitches with the throttle. All new speedos that are shipped from the distributor now come with the V2 software as standard, some older stock in shops may still be V1, which will require updating. I have my laptop at most meetings so i can update speedos for people if they don't want to do it themselves.

I had one for a short time, the software truely was appalling, and I sold it when the car it was in got sold, so never got to sort it out properly. Couldn't even get the program to run on my PC to even update the firmware. Others I know have tried it and most don't like it. I wouldn't buy another one, but of course thats just my opinion ;)

I have just made the switch from Novak to Losi in both cars, had the latest software installed and really impressed. Very smooth with plenty of brakes. Also really quick with Losi motors

Hi guys.
I have an xcelorin in my x-6 and i'm really disapointed with it. when i used my 9turn brushless i kept getting a top-end flat spot and had to change the timein down to very low and throttle to medium.
i'm thinking of outing it so i can go back to a GTB.

i had one of the original batch of these speedos in my 2wd and have never had an issue with its performance or reliability. put another one in my 4wd and again no probs.
with the latest software update installed as already said feels exactly like my lrp tc did in the 4wd.

Hi there, if i upgrade my losi software, will that stop the flat spot at the top? it would be a shame to part with it but having trouble is the last thing I need at a meeting.:confused::confused:
Cheers.

More than likely, i had an issue with the same kind of thing and the new firmware fixed it.

The thing is there were a few issues on the software but these were mainly just braking, as i say all faults have been fixed and i have had no issues at all with the new v2 software. All the people that i have spoken to about their issues are using the original firmware, you wont get the same issues any more.

Couldn't agree more, with the latest software and firmware they are hard to beat for value for money.
My 13.5 combo performs as well systems costing over double the price

I was dubious about them at first, but Southwell and Tyreman confirmed that the v2 setup software, and latest firmware have made the thing more reliable, and improved the product a lot.
Just picked up a 10.5 combo to go in my truck for some indoor racing with a lipo. Software install was a synch, and setting the thing up was very easy. Yet to try at a track, but so far very impressed!! Good value in my opinion, and comes with a better fan than the original clear Novak fan IMO...

I run the xcelorin in my cyclone moorespeed touring car and the only problem I had was with a faulty sensor wire. In fact I much prefer the xcelorin to the gtb, so much so I have just sold my almost new gtb and kept my xcelorin.

How well do they fit in the B4?

they fit fine but you will have to take the fan off or mount it vertically infront of the speedo, 2wd cars don't really need fans as the speedos don't get hot enough in them to really benefit from one so it's no problem which ever way you choose:)

I'm seriously considering an xceleron combo now. As long as the v2 software has fixed all of the bugs then they seem very well priced!

I have both a GTB and a new Xcelorin and I way prefer the Xcelorin ! It was half the price and it is so easy to play around with the profiles. I got a 4.5T Combo in my pred x11 and everyone said I was crazy (way to hot) but the ESC is so adjustable I can turn it down and amazingly its super smooth still ! The track i race at is VERY slippy so this helps loads. I have it set to 80% throttle and lowest timing. So it performs like a 6.5 but I have the option to turn it up if I need to in about 30 sec's ! Have not tried the PC software yet but with the program card it all you really need.
