Short Course Truck
well I can dream but one day maybe :D

Glen, I can assure you that there are NO plans for a release of a short course truck at present.
One of the US team guys did knock one up for their recent nationals and it went very well too, but the costs and time invloved will detract us from other on-going projects that are far more important at the moment sadly.
The current sense on these is all about keeping them standard and with minimal mods and an "X" converted truck will only ever be made to drastically improve performance and handling - which kind of goes against how everyone wants to race them at present (box stock etc). Some of the ROAR rules for the USA dont allow the "conversion" at all since it is not deemed as a "kit" but more of an "upgrade".

Yup, I was the one who built the XFactory X-60SC. Here's a couple of pics of it

(from RCUniverse Nats pics):
http://homepage.mac.com/rv6a/Images/rc/DSC_21290.jpg
I pretty much built it to see if it could be done. Thats what I like to do. Alex did really well at Nats with it. It was the fastest truck out there. ROAR had no problems at all with it. In fact, at least one of the competition tried to say it shouldn't be allowed because it wasn't a production kit and ROAR basically told them to sit down. They liked the truck.
As Darren said, it'll probably never get in to production. The money to kit it needs to go to other projects right now.

SpeedyDad can you tell me what size spur and shaft was it cause the truck look like it has a big spur and that what i want my x-60 to have please reply
Paul_Sinclair
30-07-2009, 06:54 PM
Its a standard X Factory 5001 Transmission and rear chassis-half, so I imagine it is only able to fit the same spurs, namely AE's 72, 75, 78, or 81.
The motor plate in the truck is out of carbon fiber, and thus black.
SpeedyDad
30-07-2009, 07:17 PM
We were using a 75t spur as the truck was being set up for a 17.5 brushless for Nats. Like Paul said, what you are probably seeing is the carbon fiber motor plate.
thank u u guys or the sickest keep up the with thinking outside the box and i hope Brian Kinwald and you guys are going to the Worlds. i hope to meet you'll one day at a race in cali. EH36 aka Rc's Black Magic:thumbsup: saying Thanks

Dont get too excited just yet, thats what happens when Press people get hold of a snippet of info from our website and read into it totally the wrong way. The announcment online is to state that the X5 is now obsolete due to the broken chassis mould but to re-assure our customers we are working on somthing new for the future and not giving up on 4wd or anything...nothing more. Our new 4wd is in the early stages of thoughts and ideas ONLY and is a LONG way off yet, even as a prototype concept.

There is no official SCT class, at the moment it is mainly club level although we had a heat of 9 SCTs at our last regional. We have a few meetings planned over the winter specifically for SCTs so I guess we will see how popular they really are in October at the first meet.

This thing of lengthening molded chassies to make something different is not for amateurs. Paul's spectacular crash at the ROAR Nats involved an home-made lengthened chassis splitting apart where it had been joined. Nothing else on the car was broken. Days of hard work down the tubes in an instant.
There are soo many things that must be done perfectly, so many things that must fit snugly and perfectly to make a really good strong one. We would love to sell multiple chassies to everyone and have everyone cutting and gluing, but we've seen the results when it's not perfect. I didn't say, "done right" or "done well." I said "perfect." Plus, you have to make the bumper mount, and it's a complicated part. You must have the right CF for reinforcement and cut it correctly on the bias. Just any piece you'ce got lying around will not do. Please don't try this at home.
SpeedyDad and X Factory are trying to come up with a way for Dad to make X - 60 SC chassies for us to sell. Note I said, "trying to come up with a way" -- this thing is far from done. Paul's chassis at the Nats was NOT made by SpeedyDad, and everybody saw what happened to it. No chassis made by SpeedyDad has ever broken in the spot where it was put together.
We will CNC machine bumper mounts, and we'll put the thing together in two different Kits. 1) Convert your existing X - 60 to SC. 2) Convert your T4 to X - 60 SC. Both will be expensive because of all the one-at-a-time hand work. #1 will probably be around $200, and #2 could be as high as $400. In both cases, you will supply the body.
As these things go, they will be good. You get what you pay for.

Just because these aren't big in the UK doesn't mean they are toys. They have a relatively large and fast growing following here in the US. While we do sell a lot of stuff in the UK doesn't mean it is our only market.

While we do sell a lot of stuff in the UK doesn't mean it is our only market.No-one ever said they were small here either, but EVERYWHERE (US and UK) that races them, it is a new and relatively low key class/smaller class, far lower than other areas we "should" be concentrating our efforts on. As a company, we (X-Factory) are small and the more time that is devoted to "distracting" us from bigger things at hand the slower future projects will become and take to become reality......fact. I think we should stay focused on things in hand rather than mess around with other less important projects and ideas.
The fact that the UK market is one of the biggest for X-Factory (behind Japan) should say it all really......

Anything that can help expand the XFactory family is a good thing. The more racers we bring in, especially in smaller markets, the bigger the family gets. They buy one thing, like it, and they'll buy more. That can be nothing but good for the company.
But lets not argue this in a public forum. That can't be good for the company.

Don't know if the SC10 was ever designed to compete against the likes of the T4 or X60 in an open truck class as my opinion is it just won't be as quick. So I see both sides and until there is a serious Short Coarse Class then it's not really priority BUT there is no national truck class so was the X60 needed? Then that conversion is far easier due to the dimessions being same as B4 except for few bits and bobs. Lets see a RED HOT 4wd first to blow the Durango out of the water, then think about SCX
Think it's fair to say we'd love to see a SCX but I'm still having great fun with my SC10 until that day arrives. If that day arrives :D

The Durga????? Seriously?
The cool thing about this whole SCT thing is that since I'm the one that built and is working on producing this thing, the rest of the team is left to work on the new other stuff. Its a win/win scenario.

The stock chassis will be way too short. The wheels would not line up with any of the current bodies. The rear bumper mount is a part I milled from a block of Delrin.
