Hey all,
My recently bought xcelorin system is running great in my B4, but I'm having to mount it above the battery, as it won't fit in the side as it's too high. This isn't great for either center of gravity or weight distribution. I was wondering if there's a low profile heatsink out there that would fit it? The only other option I can think of is just taking the fan off, but I don't fancy that so much (unless there's a heavy duty heatsink designed for running fanless around?)
Cheers!

You could try taking the fan off, and putting it on its side next to the esc, stuck to the chassis, facing the esc. This is what I am doing currently, and so far so good.:woot:

Heres a link. Buy yourself a proline vortex and leave it where and how you want it:thumbsup:

Loads of people do this with other typoes of speedo, I've seen a lot of 25mm fans placed in front on B4's as as long as you're moving the hot air away on decent electronics there should be no issues at all.

I run an xcelorin in my CR and run it happily without the fan completly - using a 7.5.

Brilliant, thanks for the advice guys :). I think I shall mount it on its side if that will fit, or failing that leave it off.

You could mount it something like this:

MiCk - If you have the speedo cables (sensor, receiver, servo) so close to the side of the car, are you not likely to damage them when someone smacks into the side.
I turned mine around 90 degrees anticlockwise!! Maybe I'm paranoid?

I'm sure like anything it possible to damage it with the right impact.
But you're right most would run the speedo rotated with the radio wires at the front & the power wires at the back.
The picture was one I had to hand, it was more to show the position of the fan rather then the speedo.
