hi guys,

i hve had a look through the threads looking for set up information and i wanted to ask a couple of questions if i may regards xxx cr. .

when I ran my car last indoors the other evening i found it very very difficult to get turn in on corners...of any kind. I used to have a xxx before and it wasnt like this.

I was running on a carpet track.

Can I please ask the following;

1. Do you really run worn minispike tyres indoors or is that a myth and really you need fresh minispikes....Also, what sort of insert?

2. I had 25 wt oil with red springs....I have seen in other threads 40 wt and black springs..is that a better starting point?

3. is it worth doing the chassis mod i have read about and cut the bulkhead so the batteries butt up to the servo?

4. I have seen the chassis should be set with level wishbones at the front and the chassis level. What sort of ride height should I be looking to have?

thanks ahead and any advice is mucho appreciated

PS, on a seperate note, the transmission sounded well noisy, how can I quieten it down?

How tight was your slipper as this woudl effect steering as your front weels would be lifted slightly.

Strip the tranny and flush everything clean, gears, bearings etc. Rebuild the diff and check for wear on the spur, should be silent. I also put a dap of shock oil on the gears to just keep it a bit nicer. I swear by it, and my tranny is always very free and extremelly reliable. Other people use light oils, or green slime on the gears....personal preference i think.

i would also like to now if the battery mod is worth it, becyase i suffer from the same problem, and as i have a futaba s9550 the slim line one it is about 1CM shorter than most servos so mine batterys could go even further foward.

i was actually trying to dial out steering today at the marston 2wd regional, and that was with worn yelows on grass. If you could post your set up then we might be able to help a little bit more.

ok,

i'll have a look at the set up tomorrow after work and post it up.....As a start point, I know it is level wishbones, 25 wt oil in front with red springs. 30 wt rear oil, pink springs. front was lower than rear. worn yellows with no inserts.

I'll let you know more tommorow. thanks for the replies so far chaps

Are you running with weight in the bulkhead ?, I was told to run 20 gramms in there and that seems to work fine for me.

well i havent yet tried that!!! but i have recently put 30grams in the bulkhead becuase i run a 11x2 and it goes to wheely, even with the slipper set correctly. ive set it just so tit slips before the diff, so if i untightened it i wouldnt get the proper acceleration!! but i will tell you how it goes i may go over the feild for a bash as it is grass and dirt just like my local track.

use mini pins not spikes indoors use snee blue or losi firm insert
35-40 wt losi oil blue or black springs on red pistons
forget servo mod not needed or cr
we run front slightly lower than rear
diff should make no noise at all
