Hello Ive just ordered a orion vortex 6.5 brushless motor and a nosram matrix evolution. And im wondering what gearing i should run it on with a 82 tooth spur??? xx4 of course.

Sunday is going to be scary if the motor comes as i havent run the xx4 outdoors before and i havent run brushless before.:wtf:

not quite sure but trekkkerk has his 5.5 orion vortex on a 17/84 so start at a 18 and go up from there

Ashley a 6.5 might be a bit much for you to handle on the smaller track at Oswestry maybe use a 7.5 if you have one.

The other thing to consider is that all of the orion motors are sintered so they will be more powerfull than the bonded motors that you have been running.

As for gearing sintered motors need to be geared more like a brushed motor so you want to be on or around 10.00 so 19/82 will be fine.

Ive run a 12 in the b4 around the oswestry track so it shouldnt be to bad. And i dont normally go flat out and i always run punch control on nothing.

I also ran a 10 that was insane.

If it is to fast ill put my 19t or a slow modified.

I was going to get a 7.5 but everyone was saying get a 5.5 but i knew it was going to be to fast so i gota 6.5 instead. I should be able to manage it. I just want to get back into racing off road. i have defently improved since last year.

Ashley I only use a 7.5 in my 2wd and a 6.5 in my 4wd and there more than quick enough

Ill be ok dont worry i ran a 10x1 at the indoor finals. And that was a tight track. I just wish i had heard this before as i did ask what people recomend getting turn wise. Maybe i could ring microtech tommorow and ask if i could switch it for a 7.5. As they havent sent it yet and they have both the 6.5 and 7.5 on back order.

Depends on your cells ash. I know a lad at our club running a 4.5 but his cells are pretty poor voltage wise and so its about as fast as a 6.5 with good cells

I have matched GP4300 and they are very powerful. I think defently going to ring microtech. Ive spent lots of money with them and ive never complained so hopefully they will not mind.

ash a 7.5 is ideal i run a 4.5 then switched at tivvy for a 6.5 and it was still to fast :D

I think the speedo will be here for sunday but im not sure about the motor. I think it might have to be brushed this weekend.
