Ive got a shark and i batter the hell out of it and it doesnt break. but a momber of my club has brought one and it seems that he never finishes a race with it. he has driven my car and its bin fine, but when ever he uses his it tends to break a pishbone or an upper arm on the front end. is three mods that ppl to to give abit of flex, his is a new car, where mine was second hand so i wouldnt know if mine was already modified

no mods that i know of. only thing people change is upgrade the ball studs to titanium as the kit ones can shear a bit.

maybe the new plastic is a bit more brittle if they have changed it. They are generally tough little things though

Out of interest does his have the new carbon effect arms? I remember the carbon effect wings being very brittle, maybe a similar problem. I found the stock pivot balls to be very weak, haven't broken a titanium one yet.

I had the same problem when i got mine. I broke it lot's with fairly minor crashes. After a while though it stops breaking for some reason. I havn't broken anything major for a while now apart frome front shock towers.

Tell him to stick with it and hopefully it will stop breaking.

The upgrades i would recommend are Alloy front hinge support, alloy or graphite upper arm mount and alloy wheel hexes. A mod which i am presently doing to my drive shafts as they break(these are the factory shark driveshafts) is to drill and tap them to M3 and then thread lock some 3mm stud in there so they are stronger and its easier for me to get hold of M3 lock nuts.

Hide could possibly be correct about the carbon effect. I had one of the carbon effect wings and it lasted about 2 minutes. I've had no experience with the carbon wishbones though.

he did have the new car with the carbon arms. but after they have broken its new parts without that effect, he has prity much replaced the whole of the front left of the car.

from wot i noticed of his crashes he doesnt hit hard or do anything out the the ordinary, but yet the car does seem to just snap.

im gunna have a look at the car abit more closely and see if i can spot anything that has been built incorrectly that may cause it, but from a distance it looks fine

Is he racing it in the cold?

Ive broken shed loads of bits on the front of my shark since the cold weather kicked in.

Yer we can contribute a couple of things to the cold, cos even i broke sumat on mine when it was really cold. but not every nite he breaks it has been that cold.

He isnt tightening the pivot ball retainer too much is he? I did that and snapped 2 pivot balls in 2 heats. Back it out a little bit and it shouldn't snap.
