gearing a 1/8 hobao st with 2230kv motor

hi just took my truggy out for about 8 mins and it was red hot 58c which is dam hot after 8mins . I tested it with a 12t pinion gear with a standard spur gear which is steel . does anybody know what size pinion gear i should use with it

tested it on 2x 7,4v 5000mha 30c
