Certainly is.Last weekend we put a little jump in just after the big crossover. It seems to work well.
I think we might have to put a few more little jumps and maybe some other obsticals into the track,to raise interest a tad.
Although, saying that, you had better try to get there early doors, because the carpark gets full pretty quick,i would recomend no later than 9:00 AM

Cockerill
09-03-2008, 09:00 PM
Went well. Engine gave a bit of trouble early on, and cut once in the final. Got a piston & Liner coming tho. Other than that the car was good. Looking forward to the Neo now.

WHITTLER555
09-03-2008, 10:04 PM
Good! Why did it cut? was it in the pits during a re-fuel cause that is when it tried to cut out on me last time?

See if jim wants to richen it up a bit??

Cockerill
09-03-2008, 10:06 PM
Nah it cut on the first lap of the final, was fine during warm-up laps and the rest of the race so dunno why it cut then. Jim wasn't there to tune today so it wasn't perfect

Northy
09-03-2008, 10:08 PM
Don't worry Damo, I'm taking it to get it J.A.P prepared off of Jim tomorrow night

G

WHITTLER555
09-03-2008, 10:46 PM
No worries G! Just hope it was competitive enough for Tom to race with.

When I ran it at Blackpool, it got better through the day as Tricky tuned it.

At one point he had it sat idling for 20 secs before gunning it off the line so I hoped the cut out problem was sorted??

Cockerill
09-03-2008, 11:14 PM
I don't think the cut had anything to do with the idle, was just one of those things. It wasn't very easy to get started when it was cold, but once it had warmed up it was fine.

dave g
10-03-2008, 09:39 AM
you just need someone who knows what they are doing with engines tom :)

if its cutting when warm its usually too lean on top end,it pops and cuts.

must have told about 5 people in the bottom final at herts yesterday..half of the field were cutting out on the straight :(

Nook track is real bumpy, exactly what you would expect for a venue that is really for 5th scale. It had to be treated with a lot of respect, attack too muck and you are gone.

Slow=fast.

I susepct G was actually helped by having the engine still very rich, probably kept the speed down a little. G's skills on a bumpy track were very evident, thats running preds for so long, them buggers really teach you to respect a bumpy track.

Thanks to the Nook lads for putting us up for the day, and to the SlowLowe, Lil Ben, John, Papa-S & The Verminator for fuelling us up and keeping us running.

It's just a shame that Tom & I both had drive-train problems in the 'A' or it could have been '3-oOplers' in the top 4 or 5 places.

How did you guess Damo? I think both of us had the pin fall out of the front centre CVD. G is gonna heat shrink them for me so it will be sorted.

Stu
10-03-2008, 11:03 PM
It was the grub screw in the CVD on the front-prop, not where it's onto the pinion gear.

i told graham they would fall out AGES ago and to heatshrink them..but there you go,what do i know :)

doesnt matter how much you loctite them THEY WILL FALL OUT..heatshrink or an alloy collar is the only way to keep them in.

I listened Dave! Mine are done, and ran all day without a problem (apart from the engine being a bitch to start due to the pinch! :woot: ).

dave g

you need a heat gun like we do graham..makes an incredible difference, starts first time and no need to wait 3-4 mins to get engine upto temperature, makes the engine last sooo much longer too and stops the conrod from getting hammered to death on a new engine(you might need to replace the conrod after you have run a gallon thru it,seeing how many new os 21's snap conrods i personally would)

see if you can drop on a 12v hairdrier(most camping shops have them) with some decent heat from it.

we also noticed on bruces that the spring perches sometimes get dislodged and can either come right off or end up sitting cockeyed,so you can drill a small hole thru the bottom of it and tie wrap it onto the spring so it wont move or get the hong nor 16mm big bore bottoms, they have a much taller shoulder so the spring cant come off it and are a direct fit.
