Conversion kit is for an SP2, NO other parts from any cars are needed.. There will be 2 of these in action next week @ the Petit RC race...

Looks great, but also looks like an aluminium S2 to me :)

The only area that may look like an S2 is the fact it's narrow!!
Having owned an S2 i can tell you it is nothing like one.... it is very much one of the best looking mid cars i have run. Cars will be at Petit, so come have a look.

vega used to make esc batteries and motors.
this car looks sweet the machining is second to none.

They are just proto towers, the carbon versions are being produced now.
Stu is right, the machining is second to none! The pictures don't do it justice.

Having run a S2 for a whole season I can tell you I can't see 1 difference (apart from the material of course). But I haven't seen the car in real-life :)
I'm running a TRF201 this season, so probably should stop accusing brands of copying

Most cars look very similar....
Differences:
Front end is RB5 SP2
Rear wishbones and gearbox internals are all RB5 SP2
Shocks RB5 SP2
Chassis is narrower than the S2
Car has machined alloy chassis, gearbox
Motor is further back than the S2 and most other cars
Gearbox is possibly one of the smallest you will see.
Basically apart from looking very similar as most cars do..... RB5, Ansmann, Assoc, Tamiya ?????? The car is nothing like it....
I have run an S2.. in both version's, in fact i had one of the very first after Craig Harris.
V-Rossi

Yes of course the donor parts are a different brand and the material used is different (well, the gearbox is), I'm talking about the concept (lay-out, one piece tub chassis, shocktower and camber link mount system) :)
I like this prototype a lot, not meaning to criticize anything, but the concept is just very similar to the S2. If I was running a RB5 SP2 I'd buy it :D
spenner
10-01-2011, 06:30 PM
I understand what you are trying to say... but the concept for all mid motor cars was out long before the s2... Most cars look the same, but don't judge a book by it's cover.
Concept's are there to be improved upon, which is what has been done here.
If anything i would compare it more to the old Durango B4's...
V-Rossi
10-01-2011, 07:37 PM
Indeed, it won't drive the same as the S2 did due to the different Kyosho suspension geometry and (superior) shocks.
Send me one for free and I'll have a closer look :p

We did try to let it grow, but couldn't take the abuse any longer!!! It is now a squashed frog...
Have seen the new shell design today and it looks sexy... Such a car needed a great shell, such a shame to hide all that quality.
And further to this.... ran my car last night at Moto Arena, managed to qualify 3rd behind Lee Martin and Tom Cockerill. Was a good nights racing, esp with team Tamiya attending. First time i have out qualified Rheinard and Wilk!!! Must be the Vega...
Jensk:
As soon as the car is close to completion i am sure there will be plenty of details. And from what i hear it isn't going to be too expensive either!!!

Wow ! I know I am slightly biased but that is fappin cheap:o I didn't see that coming! £150 is really cheap compared to some very sub standard conversions ( you know who you are ) lol
When I advised them to sell them at
£250 I thought it was a steal especially as it is machined from billet high grade aircraft aluminium on a machine that is accurate within 1 micron over 1000mm ( at worst depending on temp )
Basically no one has ever hit this quality in 1/10th offroad ever! And once it is bought is going to be pretty much plug and play ,indestruRctible !
And all made in the uk( and the machines that make it )All for £150 ........ Shocker!
BALLS!
I've just ordered a losi 22 thinking that will do me this year !
I knew it was good but when John Spencer relayed how once the excitement and hype of the easy build was out of his system, how the car felt as planted as a touring car but superbly stable in the air . He relayed that the corner speed was amazing and a bit of a pain cause the opposition were not anticipating him cornering at that rate and he was nearly hittin them up the rear!

The idler shaft will not be required as it will be machined into the gearbox, and yes the kits will include the extra gear needed.
Can't beat that for quality!!
For anyone who has purchased one of the first batches of conversion kits, there was about 2... then they will have the same gearbox me and Kev are running which requires the idler shaft.

The car looks really awesome. I've got a question though, as you can see the pic below, i've marked the rear shock tower camber link holes with red arrows. On the original RB5 rear shock tower, the camber link holes are arched but on the Vega, they are lined up straight in a row. Will this affect the rear suspension settings and geometry? Thanks :)

The Vega Elite RB5 SP2 has won the EIR 2011 in Belgium.....
Kev Lee drove from 6th on the grid in the most competitve EIR so far... 2 wins and a 2nd place gave him the title.
The car is still in it's first month, and seems to be getting faster and faster!! Sadly, with people swapping there RB5's for Vega and other mid cars for Vega everyone will have the same advantage.
Well done Kev
Also,
The Vega Elite RT5 made it's debut at the same event.... Matt Owen drove the car to 2nd on the grid tied on points with Kim Sitensky (German Truck champion) Both drivers took 4 TQ's each but Kim took it on the quickest time.
With the car making it's debut it was a matter of playing with setups all weekend, The car looked very quick through qualifying but was unable to transfer that onto finals!!
Well done Matt
All in all a very good weekend for Vega Elite

My kit is now on its way...
When its build and ready for race I will post how its doing here in norway. Usually, I`m an A-finalist(lower 10) here in norway and maybe this car will give me the extra edge to get me in top 5 spot...hopefully
But of course, to make that goal,i will need to push myself harder as the level in 1/10 here is getting higher...

TBH there are a couple out there....
I know myself and Kev Lee have been running them from day 1, working on setups and improvements.
We have now been joined by Tony Evdoka.
Simon W has one, and there have been a few purchased in Europe. The car is ever improving, and once this is all done you will get details you need.
The Vega was winner at EIR, 2 Vega's held the two fastest laps over the whole meeting in 2wd!!
The car is in production and i know they are working 18 hrs a day to clear the backlog of orders. Since i ran the first car a month ago Saturday there have been many changes, this is what is holding up the orders.
I am sure anyone who purchased one already will want it the same as ours ???
These changes include:
New gearbox - Includes both shafts for idlers machined as part of gearbox, so no need for extra's.
Vega Idlers - These make the car silent and are strong and durable. I will add, no one has had a problem with idlers in the Vega Elite... and we was selling them to drivers who use other Kyosho mid cars, due to issues with idlers!!
Revised shock tower - Made stronger, again part of crash test. Identified areas which are breakable and these have been made stronger.
New bodyshell - The Frog was first, this has been replaced by a more buggy looking shell. Although others may become available. Shell is designed for the car with today's lipo's etc in mind and fits snug to chassis.
Anodised - To give the car that finished look it has been anodised.
Weight kit's - The car is very light as standard, made so this could be added by driver. Rudebits will be making weights for the car. So far both myself and Kev Lee have been using the Rudebits under lipo weights, and also under speedo weights. These are perfect for the car and once new one's are available i am sure Mr Evdoka will let us know.
If you have questions or require setups then pm myself, KevLee or Rudetony.

Hi All,
I've run mine twice now and all i can say is "WOW" this thing is good, it changes direction in an instant, no lazy cornering and more and better steering than anything else i've driven. The craftsmanship on the whole car is amazing, when i first saw a piccy i was hooked and i wasn't disappointed. First time out was @ NBC my local track ( mostly grass on sandy soil that comes through quite quickly with some wooden jumps and bumpy) after the addition of a 3mm stainless steel plate (157g) that snuggly fits in the batt compartment it flew round. Second time out i changed my rear link to the same as Kev and John run and it was indoors on carpet last night, mini pins all round in and outside rows off the front tyres. The track was tight (touring car club) and it was fantastic. For those that know me you will be shocked to hear i've ditched the traditional black shell for a proper spray job cos' "she's worth it" LoL. I'll be @ stotfold on the 20th for it's first astro test, i have a feeling i won't be disappointed there either, just need to get some Ghea pistons for it and maybe some BIG BORES as they WILL fit on no messin'.

Sorry never see your post...
The holes are same position as RB5 but with extra one's... basically giving you more positions. Although the positions are same they will act differently due to the layout of the car.

Glad you are liking the car, all i can say is keep it up and if it starts to go wrong don't be afraid to go back to what worked. We have tried a number of things the 'should' have worked..... but didn't!!! The car is a real joy to drive, but as we have found like other cars if you get it wrong it can be hard!

I don't think this was due to your guidance but more to do with testing new things and being the first time out and me not listening to the BOSS! At least we know now what doesn't work!! Lol. :woot:
Seriously though Kim, thanks very much for your support and I hope we have a major foreign asset join the Vega Team soon
The VEGA truck really is the way forward for me. I should know as I love stadium truck, bring it back people!!!!!:):thumbsup:
