CML gota have one, that track was great fun!!
The pics from Clanfield look like that would be a different track to the usual astro/grass too

The Talywain track looks like a proper dirt track which would be fantastic, but I have to agree with ash and griff on what they said....they would be my choice too but after looking at the pics only of both tracks i would say it would be a toss up between Talywain and Clanfield for the last one if anything. Too tough to call IMO.

The closing date was the AGM date so i would say yes it is to late to apply.
It would be a shame if a club got a national by applying after the closing date as it kind of defeats the object of having rules, not to mention what it could do to clubs that have applied and then did not get a national
My Six would be
Oswestry
Holbeach
Stotfold
Coventry
Clanfield
Eden Park Raceway
But as i am no longer on the BRCA committee it counts for nothing

He was spotted browsing this very thread earlier ;). I'm not sure where the rule is at this point in time, but i'm fairly sure in the past that the official cut off date was the AGM.
May have a look in a bit and see if the rule is/is still in the hand book.

I am confused..... know it does not take much but below is lifted from the BRCA Handbook
4.6 Applications to host a National event, Indoor Final, Junior.& Veterans’ Championship or End of Season Final, must be received by the date of the Section AGM. Applications must include full details of the venue, including : pitting area, toilet facilities, rostrum design/suitability, race control facilities, local accommodation, policy for camping/caravans and advice on suitable control tyres if applicable. Details of standards required can be obtained from the Section Secretary. Sanctioned events can only be granted by the Committee. The calendar of events will be published in January of each year. Dates are subject to force majeure and the approval by the Committee of the venue and organiser.
So based on the above how can clubs not on the minutes list get a national for next year?
If this does happen and your club that has put in and does not get a national can you appeal?
If the above were to happen in my view it could only harm 2009 applications as why would you apply if clubs can apply when they want and adhere to no deadlines........
Not wishing to stir but i would be gutted if my club did not get a nation next year :)

MattW
02-11-2007, 10:14 PM
It's a fair point Si, so the rule is still there then.
I know if i'd gone to all the trouble of submitting for an entry before the printed deadline i'd be a bit miffed. I haven't personally, so it's not an issue to me as such, but an odd one all the same.
No disrespects to anyone at all, but it is good to see tracks applying that are closer to this area of the country. The national series has defenetly felt as if it was centred on either the west of teh north for a while now

I would love to see southport on the callender but again as reevsey said its breaking the rules i dont think its fair to say full stop no they cant have one but i think it would be ok if they could have an end of season finals and not a full national. The BRCA make the rules so they should stick to them to.

'US' drivers have every say in anything, we're the ones who nominate and vote for rules at the AGM. Take a tip from charlie.

03-11-2007, 07:01 AM
OMG!!! :o Let's be clear...
Proposals are voted on by BRCA members, which turn them into Rules that are enforced by the relevant members of the Section Committees or the Exec. At the end of October each year, the BRCA holds its Association AGM, and each Section holds its Section AGM.
So, Ashley, the membership vote in the Rules; Charlie, the BRCA Committees enforce the Rules, and David, the AGM date is also your Section AGM, so that's the cut-off date.
Go to www.brca.org and read the Handbook - it saves the hankies I need to mop up the tears of laughter, as you lot come flying in so bloody confident you can guess it all, and falling flat on your faces!! :D:D:D (that's me laughing, you understand!! ;))

Theoritical question in response to this -
If only enough clubs apply by the AGM date to host the Nationals & EOS (8 req'd) and one or two are deemed unsuitable for whatever reason, should a club whose entry was "late" not be considered?

no they shouldn't, you would leave yourself open to accusations that you found club A unsuitable just so you could have a national at club B

If the above is already true based on their submission then yes it makes sence as it would only harm the national series if we tried to run meetings at clubs where the infrustructer is not there and non of us want that as we all want the series to be the best series in the world!!
My concern would be if Club A's application is late what is to stop Club B,C & D all applying, which could then mean clubs that have got their applications in on time and have the required resources to hold a national then do not get awarded one as the pool of clubs to choose from gets bigger.
I think based on the fact their are no current rules that cover this in the hand book their is an opportunity to formulate some for the future.....

What the hecks going on here???
What I care about is spending my hard earned, racing on the best tracks in Britain in the best series. Having looked on the internet 2 of the tracks above don't look much good to me (personal opinion) as opposed to the legend that is the Southport track.
I also have faith in the BRCA committee to make the best decisions.

Can't believe there is no kiddy:(...I havent been to southport but looks awesome. No offence to the proposed tracks-but there are a couple here which are basically grass and hoses... if I want a flat track i'll race touring cars.Wheres the jumps, wheres the offroad??
For example:A track like Coventry's astro is ok in the dry though inconsistant-but in the wet, because nitro's have used it-it's a joke! The grass track needs to be half the size with many more features.Am I alone in this view?I appreciate that it takes a major effort by clubs to make tracks interesting and challenging but isn't this meant to be the elite off road racing series in this country?
Cml track is great,Eden looks good too,Stotfold also(hope it has the room to cater for a national(cml));)
I do agree though that for a club to be considered for a national event-the entry should be in before the brca's deadline-if thats what is in the rules. If the proposed tracks arent up to spec shouldnt an emergency agm be called to rectify it?Going off to read my rule book...

I think from the hobby on a whole point of view this is good, you have more clubs wanting to hold nats & Grass, Astro, Dirt tracks? whats the prob? No matter what happens not everyone will be happy (try going to an agm:wtf:) and never will be.
If a big club gets there entry in late and miss the final date......Tough S**T.No nat for them no matter how many top boys love the track.and thus a new club gets a look in, and you never know the sun might shine and everyone has a good day:).
It's only a hobby:D:D( Or toy cars as my wife said:mad:)

Has this thought occurred to anyone...
It takes a huge amount of work to organise a National Series. As an organiser, you put lots of hours in; you do your very best; everyone comes up to you and is very polite on the day. Then, they get on here, whinge, moan, complain and generally slag off your track/site/organisation/etc. So you think "I can't be arsed anymore..." And then, people are surprised when Clubs don't apply...
I think you lot should try running a Club for a year, including a National, and then I think you'd find you're less inclined to come on here with your comments about people's tracks and organisation and... Frankly, it's pathetic.

slowone, high horse come's to mind!
think you will find a hell of a lot of the posters in this thread have or still are heavily involved in clubs that are applying/have in the past run nationals so we do know what we are talking about, fully understand the work involved and enjoy banking the sometimes much needed £1000 the club get's paid to host an event!

Wow, you guys really should realise you are flogging dead horse's on this thread.
Its dissapointing if Southport doesn't get a national, I don't like the thought of traveling for hours to somewhere I could dislike, but "hey ho" there are other things in life more important - and I/we may just love the tracks.
Id rather just chill, and wait for the app to be available, in the meantime the BRCA will make the right decision whatever it might be, then I will apply.

i'm not sure how you can say you'd travel hours to visit tracks like southport, bury and batley (as thats all we have up here who actually apply) unknown if you'd like them, or wonder if they'l be able to cope with a full weekend of racing and catering for people.
I can see chris's point, for us this year we will definately be going in to the unknown with clanfiends, eastrax, and cml hoping to have nationals, hopefully they'l provide a good weekend.
Should be an interesting year none the less. :)

i can understand ur point of view totaly! but the first time 3 yrs ago i did the whole national series the closest track i had to me was kidderminster and that is 2 hours away on a good run. the likes of southport and bury metro in that first year were like 6-7 hours away and thats a fair drive u can well imagine! belgium this year was closer to drive lol. i for one am very pleased that the south have now got tracks and theres a few of them warrent national events. but personally i think there should be 2 in the north 2 in the mid and 2 in the south to get a fair spread for everyone sayin that though dont look look like thats goin to happen this year.

Yeh, I do agree with that. But it currently depends on who applies....
I wonder, could the BRCA influence any clubs to apply for 2009 to get that spread, or would that be expecting too much from them?
MattW
04-11-2007, 10:12 PM
Chris, I think it's fair to assume that the committee does talk to the clubs about them applying for a national - bearing in mind that each region has a rep. You can't force them though. It's a lot of work to run a meeting, and many many good clubs/tracks are finding themselves short of people.

Righhhtttt.......no internet at home right now, so i just read through all this post and heres what im coming up with here!
1.
to be honest, if clubs put in after the closing date and get a national, i personally will be slighty annoyed. reason; last year my club got kicked out of having one for not having a registered. fair enough. but if clubs now are saying you can put in after the date...then why wasnt i allowed last year? people were offering to pay the membership on the night for the club and it got kicked out. lets be fair, its not like im not going to pay for it...its not like you cant find me at race meetings. normally the loudest person there.
2. from my racer point of view, i want to see the best tracks.....beleive that you should be allowed to put in until you actually choose the tracks. whats the harm in that.....?
3. for the guy that questioned the space at cml.....
have you seen the fields surrounding the track??????????
dont think 150 people will take up 12 acres :D
so now, lets just find out what the situation is regarding putting in for nationals and just shhhh bout it.
lol

Well said Lee!!!! :D
I am also very happy to see clubs like Eden Park, Stotfold, and Cml applying for a National!!!! I hope we get a few down here, Stotfold was closest for me last year at 115 miles, Southport was 300 miles, now I know the Scottish drive further than anyone, but apart from them I have had a long way to drive for nationals for years.
This is a National series and races will be spread out all over the country, it's just extra sweet if we get a few down this way!!!!!:D

Or do clubs apply for those two meetings seperatly?

Cheers, no doubt it will go on loction, so my guess would be that Holbeach will see a national and Easttrax the F3's? With them being a couple of miles apart and Easttrax being a new club. Very good track they have built there though.

Good track, but when I last went it was the facilitys around the track that let it down. It rained that day and it became very muddy around the track. There is a motorcross track next door to it.
Things just need a bit of tidying up, it may of been done by now?

Ok the pics for track in wales are for the huge nitro track, ive never seen any one take a 10th buggy on there, the track is choppy, but would be a cool laff to see you all trying to take the huge banked bend on to the tripple
speaking to Dad and Matt i think there was talk of the track being on grass, Matt i belive owns all the land that the golf course and track is on there was talk that he would shift as much earth as we need for all the jumps ( with down ramps).

Right gentlemen for those who are interested Talywain is near pontypool in southwales it is between the M4 and the A449 roughly.
The proposed track will be on the grass at the front of the golf rage so it will use the natural contours of the ground plus any wooden or earth jumps as the track builder [Millzy ] may seem fit . the is a club house /cafe [best breakfast in south wales ] toilets and over night camping facilities if you get bored thereis a golf course too The track you may have seen in any photos is the dirt nitrotrack currently under reconstruction following the granting of planning permission.if you want to see any photos of the grass tracks please go th www.nitotrucks (http://www.nitotrucks) .com photo gallerys

Geography is not a prerequisit in my job, you see the actual trains run on rails which tends to guide them where they're going. It's when that plan goes wrong I get involved ;)

Coventry? Not sure what we're suppossed to be seeing?
From the very end of the AGM minutes:
National Venues 2006
Charlie Fraser confirmed that applications to hold national events in 2008 had been received from the following clubs: Oswestry, Holbeach, Stotfold, Coventry, CML Raceway, Eden Park Raceway, Eastrax, Talywain (Wales) and Clanfield. Potential host Clubs wishing to stage the 2008 Indoor Finals had been canvassed and with committee agreement in order to secure the desired weekend (w/e29/30th March 2008) Short Circuit Model Club (Worksop) have been awarded the event using the Bassetlaw Indoor Sports venue.

I mean, imagine not going to tiverton (we kinda knew this though), Kiddy (shocker), southport (shocker) and Bury Metro (shock)

I'm used to travelling to meetings so it doesn't really bother me too much anymore. Obviously theres going to be travelling long distances for everyone through the seasons no matter what you race.
Looking forward to going to mr martins track, looks ace.
i'm assuming the 8th tracks are going to construct a shorter track for us 10th racers?
