It's on.
Bury council say there is money to start the project. A meeting is to be arranged for next week to iron out what is needed. Although I think they will still want to do it on the cheap.
Do you think we should dismantle the steelwork and roof of the rostrum ?
We can then re-use it and make a better weather proof one.
If so we need to organise a work party asap.
That's both sweet & sour news Rog.
I'm looking forward enormously to a new track, but will be genuinely sorry to see the end of the existing one.
I'll always remember winning a regional (I think Colin broke in the final) and getting top F2 at the last (2008?) National.
The king is dead, long live the king

Great news. Any idea how long the track will be out of action for? Are we able to extend the indoor track dates until the outdoor is ready?

Reuse whatever we can salvage, why pay when we don't have too?
I can help with dismantling but bear in mind if I take it down its never going back up again......

How much like the old track will the new one be? Will there still be a hairpin, tabletop etc?

Ready and willing to help out when I can. I have spoke to the boss at work and can get timber, turf, slabs, tools, paint at good prices depending on what we need. Heck I went through our recycling and disposal bins recently and got a £120 compressor for only £2, nowt up with it.
There were going to be community grants given out again this year for various local groups and clubs but the budget has been scrapped in favour of 'youth projects' (whatever they are) If someone can get me a list of stuff we'll be needing i'll get on it.

The council will always want to do things on the cheap, the thing is, not that I'm saying you should do anything dodgy, but how do they know how much setting up an rc track should cost, plus, if something's not done properly, it more often than not needs redoing over and over again.

They know because they ask what we need and get quotes.

The meeting today went ok. The contractor seems to know what we need so we should be in good hands.
Work should start......................................Next Week

Good news..
So where is the track going to be?? next to the existing one, other side of race control?
Great news . If there's a couple of spare rolls of astroturf tell them to send them our way :woot:.

Basically the new track is on the other side of race control, and rotated 90 degrees to the current one (unless its all been changed again).
We can then park in the main car park instead of driving around all the footballers blocking the road!

Can we still have a covered/indoor pitting area for people who don't have a vehicle to hide from the rain in?!
