not posted here before but been looking at all the paint work for a while now and I really like the work you guys on here do, very impressive, so I thought I'd share some of the painting I've done recently.

Thanks Mike, Its hard to see from the pics but the purple is marbled on both bodies and one has a white/yellow graphite pattern down the side, Pics didn't really highlight it well, maybe some close ups next time :D.

Another Body !! It does have a marble effect in the red but the my camera is not as good as it once was! The design isn't mine borrowed it off a shell i seen a while ago but thought I would try and give it for some practice, changed a couple of bits but not much. Hope you like it!

Looking tidy ! I like the lights.

I don't think it's your camera I think it's where you're photographing it. Outside is definitely best for true light and colours but at the same time you get so many reflections. If you can find a cheapy light tent on ebay and get that even to the extent of using it outside it should help. Also I don't know what sort of camera you have but using the flash generally helps the colours show up well, maybe put some white tissue over it if it's too big or some tracing paper, this might take some practice and possibly need doubling up but it will be a trial and error thing.

Photographing your hard work is the most difficult part. Good work though, lots in that and it all looks neat and well executed !

I will try your tips on the next photos I take, the camera did used to be better, I had it in my rear pocket(without the cover) and forgot about when I sat back on a wall, I damaged the front shutter which now doesn't work properly and I've marked the lens :blush:, A bit gutted but at least it still works :).

Cheers Mike, I'm getting there just trying to copy a few more complex designs to try and improve the quality and design of my work. I'm really happy with how my ltest one have really started to improve. Still along way to go yet though.

Another body, I took inspiration from one of LarryG KustomRcGraphics buggy bodies, changed a few things and tried to give it my own stamp,

looks great mounted, I really liked the idea of a non symetrical roof and the buggy bodies being nice and curvy, I felt it would look cool going with the flow of the body lol (if that makes any sense at all)

I seem to prefer a symetrical design all round on the touring cars though, I think it must be the shape of the bodies.

Yea quite enjoyed doing something a little different, I was planning on different colours but I removed the wrong colour first and had to change it :blush:.

School boy error :lol: we've all done ! Looks good though, what colours was it going to be ? You could have put the colour down you wanted, backed it with white and a little silver and that will make it completely opaque, although you'd have had a higher build in that area, just in case you do it again.

Ya know what I'm not quite sure :confused:, I know I was putting the purple on the back of the body but started removing the centre, I think it was purple at the back, white central area and I'm not sure about the front now, It was written on the film so.....:confused:...

I did think about putting down the lighter colour then backing it, but I decided to change the colours around instead.

sometimes a mistakes makes you change a design and it looks better and I think this is one of those times.:)

Yea really pleased with this one, normally I don't try to push the design too far as I don't like to change the design when someone has asked for it but had a body going spare so decided to push it a little further, Just started drawing a design randomly on the body and went from there.

Came out nice I think:)

Definitely, looks real nice as I already said, you should put yourself out of your comfort zone a little bit as it teaches you new skills and stuff and as has happened here you'll surprise yourself with what you really can do !

As for the LM I'd probably say theres a good chance it is cos I do like to go out the front and throw it about about when masking up :D

cheers guys, it was only a rush job so i dont think its to bad, i do agree about the size of the lines but i wanted to use more blue and wast to sure on best way of going about it without messing with the grey and silver.

Yeah that's a tricky one as it does match your shocks and stuff very well. Get you accessorising :lol:

Dunno what you could do, maybe have the design with 3 colours so the blue is no longer a pin line but part of the design ? It looks cool though despite what I said.

i no that she got alot of comments at her first buggy meeting,which is great. and shes happy that she got a 2nd in the heats lol but i won most of them so im in trouble now lol

Electrical tape has given you some nice edges and it looks like you've got it to curve around the shapes real well. Good going !

There are 2 alternatives, you can get proper paint tape, 3M Fineline Tape Product code 6520. It's 3mm thick though so perhaps a bit too thick. It's a sort of greeny grey colour. They do a blue one too which is more flexible but if you leave it too long it comes off on it's own and it leaves a residue behind which is no good.

Alternative to that is jammydog.com (http://www.jammydog.com/micro_masking_tape.htm) who do many many widths of tape, perfectly good enough for this, cheap, because it's thin you can sort of draw with it and get nice tight curves.

Or you could buy some liquid mask and a scalpel which I must say I'm sort of favouring at the moment, no blow throughs or miss masks, all in one go, nice and easy.

Thanks Ian, it looks really good in life as you know you lose a lot of subtle details in the photos (or you do when your me lol :D).

The green one isn't mine lol and no idea where it came from I think it maybe time to start a thread with my name in instead of my recent paint and leave this open to anyone wishing to display the paint work without opening there own thread.

Sorry, I thought that this is an open thread. Should I delete that pic? The S411 is easy and fast to drive. It feels better than my old tamiya.

No don't worry about it like I said I should of made a thread with a proper title by now so I will leave this open for all to use.

He has a tamiya 417 at the moment but really likes the look of the serpent, in fact so do I. It looks so good in silver reminds me of the old xray which was a brilliant car. If he goes well I may just invest in one next year.

Marbling is very quick, paint on one colour, for instance silver, attack it while it's still wet with a scrunched up plastic bag, leave to dry, back with black, ta da !

And yep as Ian says just lay down some wet paint and use a bag/sponge or other depending on the effect you want to dab the paint and then back with another colour once dry.

Heres the buggy for myself, though it doesn't quite come out as brite on the camera pics, I like it alot, I based it on a design I came up with before on a minuture buggy and changed up a couple of things. Hope you like it.

Yea I did :lol: I did the same colour combo that same week as yours for someone on a touring car and the colours just look so good I thought I'd do one for myself for the B4, I just took the design I did for you and changed a couple of bits. Looks well nice in the flesh and with a couple of added Jconcept stickers looks even better :D if I do say so myself :lol:....

yea i love the wider wing as i find it goes over the jumps better, it is strange as you say, it looks blue instead of purple. really like it G, thanks again and yes, i will be back for another one painting :D

Ian, its transparent bright red backed with a mix of red and copper to try and get that deep candy look that really shines.

Ian, these are limited edition, you attach the nuts from the outside and it holds the body in place (no body posts needed) only problem is you cant turn so only good for drag racing :lol:

Looking good G :thumbsup: yep with the ghosted grey flames it really sets the theme off, and the design itself has the same flow as Hara's. This design is one of the hardest to get penned down with the overlapping flames I can tell thee :)
