Guys I'm looking at 2 brushless systems at the moment. I really need you guys who are in the know to tell me what you think of each system for racing?
1. Mamba Max
2.Novak XBR sport EX8.5
I know one is sensored and ones sensorless, and I don't know which Mamba Max system to go for if I went that way.
It'll be going in a BJ4 WE
Cheers
Gordy

It would have to be the novak system as you cant race the mamba max systems in any BRCA sanctioned event.

Gordy, another vote for the Novak here too from that list ..... however I wouldn't buy from that list!!!

The problem with the Novak is the 8.5 min limit, you will want to go lower than that in a 4wd on your nice new grass/astro/dirt track mate. At £150 or so street price there are better ways to spend your cash.

I would do what I have done (twice now) and buy second hand.

In my 4wd I have an LRP 07TC (£110 from a trusted member of this site) and a Novak 4.5R (£37 posted from Ebay) ..... ok I have a Novak 5.5R as well that I got through Dom at DC Racing which is my prefered motor but it goes to show the Novak motors are out there at a good price. Both these units were in as new condition, less than a couple of meetings old and came with all paperwork etc.

In the RB5 I have a Nosram 07 Evo (£120 BNIB from this site again) and an LRP 6.5 from Brian Preddy (£43 I think IIRC). Again both seem to be very good .... even got the joy of braking the seal on the Nosram.

That goes to show that you can get decent quality stuff 2nd hand with no drama for good money and both of those set-ups are going to stay in the car for next season, including nationals if I get in. Not sure that would be the case with the Novak you mentioned.

As I have said before I have 3 spare Nosram brushed speedos here which you can borrow to get you going whilst you wait for a brushless system to come up at a good price.

If your buying new speak to Dom at DC Racing, tell him you know me and he might take pitty on you and give you a bit of a discount to ease the pain ;) It's not like his prices are high in the first place!
If you do buy new a package works out the best value and it has to be the Novak GTB deals for value ...... although I still personally prefer the LRP / Nosram speedos.
