Does anyone know why grub screws are used on the front of the RB5 Vega chassis? (To retain the upper deck spacers)

A mate has sheared one and its near impossible to remove, so planning to have it drilled straight through and use a longer countersunk screw from underneath.

Seems a much more logical way to fix them in place? was it just to save another screw head underneath?

i did wonder this to,the worrying thing was they need a fair bit of force to do up properly,it feels like they havent been drilled far enough, still lovely though:thumbsup:

Hi there
The resistance you feel when tightening is the posts seating in to the chassis, perfect fit.! The grub screws just hold them in and carry no load as the post seats do that job. But If you have a problem then your idea sounds fiesable . But remember that the grub is steel an the chassis is Ali (softer) so the drill may try to wonder sideways! Only advise I can give is use a pillar drill and keep the bit short in the chuck
Good luck!

Should be fine but wouldn't hurt to ring Lewis at vega. Just to see if he has a better solution cheers
