ok so we all know the AE B44 has won the ifmar but after seeing the all new AREO-1 and the serpent S500 and the ATOMIC S44 DOES THE B44 HAVE A CHANCE NOW THAT WE HAVE MORE BETTER CARS ON THE MARKET

yes-other cars are good but AE have all the good drivers
( even doughtys an AE driver)

And it would be difficult to tempt a top US driver away from their team cause they do earn alot of $$$$$$$$$$$$$ ;)

its more to do with the driver than the car at the end of the day, granted the car helps but its more driver... next world champ... B44, D4 or the Serpent. my reason.... big companies can sign big names :)

Paul is right, I don't know any exact amount's, but SOME drivers earn enough to live very comfortable from racing alone!!!!
But drivers are on different pay rates, and of course there is a win bonus!!!

I recon Wraggy with the S4 for the euro's win:thumbsup::thumbsup:
In my opinion(not that its worth much) i think it is going to take someone with very special thumbs to knock ae off the top spot, possibly a hb driver?? It's not so much that its a better car, just more of them and alot of good drivers on those teams.

I agree!!! They have Amescua, Hara, and many other good drivers. Oh and they were very pleasant to chat to at the worlds!!!! Some other teams were head down into racing so much, they could barely muster a hello! :o

Especially because of the IFMAR rule the the World's have to be on a natural surface, ie dirt!!!!! They run on those types of tracks full time. I am sure if we had alot of dirt tracks our top drivers would be right there with those guys!!!

is there a reason we dont have more dirt tracks:D
If you look as well how quick mr cragg is at 2wd, there is nothing special about his b4 its just a standard ft b4 with plastic bits here and there, then look at his results in 4wd, he is nowhere near as quick or consistant. The car does play a big part but the driver has to be capable first.
I think pidge will win the 4wd euros this year, lee is doing a fair bit of running on dirt so it should set him up well for it.
He will also be at the sharp end in 2wd of course as he was awesome on dirt at the clash.
Plus the worlds is another 18months away at the moment. people might change team over next winter with it being a worlds year:o

We have lots of rain, they would just wash away i reckon. although a nice blue groove would be great in the uk;)

I think losi would stand a chance in 2wd if they actually sent some drivers truhe did well for 5th last year as he was one of the very few losi drivers there.

if they make the CR this time next year:eh?:

Ash, any team would have a good chance if they send good drivers!!!!

Who is the only BIG team who hasnt developed a new 4wd car, if other companies think its worth it to spend 1000`s developing new cars it shows that losi have little or no interest in 10th off road.
Sad but true

I think some of the best losi drivers are in the uk bloomfield has shown he is as good as some of the best drivers such as cragg bradders and pidge. All made mulitiple worlds A finals its a shame losi dont care any more:yawn:

IMO the next world will be monopolized by ae like the one in japan.
I do agree that it's all down to the driver at the end of the day...
But if all the drivers all drive the same car, then it isn't much of a competition then...
I think it's all about the euros at this point unless HB invests in a cerious team, Or Losi brings out a Sxxx4 then it might get intresting ...

i think u all need 2 slow down now and take a seriouse look at kyosho now i no it might sound a bit funny i think kyosho sp could do it if u look back at the rb5 it made it 2 A-MAIN in the ifmar last year in 2WD so i think they in with a chance plus former world champion mark pavidis is helping with testing and designing products so hes got a few tricks up his sleev:thumbsup:
They will have to make a very big step to win the worlds, as some top drivers have said on here theay are about 2 years behind with the SP at the moment

so if only reason theres no dirt tracks is RAIN then a track like where the NEO is held would be good as its dirt but indoors:thumbsup:

i think you have to be a brave man to bet against an associated winning the worlds.....
it went to HB, Yokomo and Tamiyas playground (japan) and still won. so in south afirca where theres a level playing field....well i think something drastic has to happen.....
but who knows who will be driving for who come 2009.
Vinny thanks for your vote of confidence, much appreciated! and i will be trying hard to put my name in the mix!
Lee
I think it could be done and im sure if you got the right clay and some decent drainage then it is definatley possible to do...... but...... the cost of land in the uk is stupid. I looked into it a while ago and if i were to put it on private land it would cost a fortune but if it was on council land then we would have less options available to us with regards to the surface and the features within the track.
If i could get a bit of waste land that would be suitable for a track then i would put my own cash into it to make a really good track, and would try to make it a dirt track too:thumbsup:

for those who used to race 15 years ago will remember the track at Tamworth.. that was a clay track and one of a kind at the time , in the dry it was great fun but very dusty & bumpy, but if it rained then forget it !!!!.

I never went there but i knew of it - Plus there were others such as Taunton (Outdoor Dirt), Basildon (Dirt an 1993 Worlds track)... It's just hard to maintain a dirt track in the UK but i guess if they manage it ok in Austria, France, Sweden etc then we should really be able to do it here even with the rain we get!
I think if it could be built so the rain ran off it then it would be ok, running in the wet would be bad and would really kill the track as it would rut up and be awful.
I think a base of dolomite on which the water can drain through and a few inches of clay to race on would be good as well as clever track designs which will allow the water to drain off the track and stop it getting water logged.

Anyone remember the Euro's in Austria (1999)?? That was so funny, it pi$$ed it down for 4wd and they put Wood chippings all over the track to try and soak it up but it was awful - The cars would last about 2 mins as by one lap the wheels were like 1/5th scale size so the cars were rapid but just dumped lol
Clay/Dirt is awesome but not when it rains.....

air valley was the best clay track in the uk and the water used to just run off as they mixed oil in with the clay:thumbsup:
then the enviroment people noticed the oil was being washed away into the river behind the rostrum and sent the club a bill to clean it:thumbdown:
hence no more air valley so if anybody is thinking of having a go at building a clay track THINK ABOUT IT.

I recon its gonna be AE ... look at the drivers they got.. LOL bastards..
If IFMAR alowes LiPo for the 2009 worlds i think we will se new cars for sure
and this might be intresting development for the the big companies.
Why??
Im sure the weight limit will stay the same?

I think your right.
To back Pavidis up there is Hoddap and a fair few other quick guys from the USA and Asia.
As far as design input goes remember where Gil Losi Jr is now ..... a lot of people seriously rate him as a design tallent (although I will admit to not being too keen on the later Losi products the XX and it's forefarters were awesome).
With regard to those people who say the SP is 2 years behind I am interested to know what they base that on and if they have actually driven one long enough to get used to it and get it to suit them???? Everybody who drives mine likes it .... those who have driven it please come and have another go ..... it just got even better!!
The RB5 seems to be taking a lot of wins in the USA .... which means those guys are choosing a product from outside the USA over a domestic one .... unusual in all aspects of their commercial markets!!!
Don't discount the big K out of hand ........ they are back in 1/10th with a vengence!

I stil Say AE, ive read all the post and there are some good points ,but if you go on some of the US forums and read what the AE drivers are testing in regards to lipo-weight and set up they really know what they are doing.
Losi do still have some drivers dont they? is Jessie Mike and that crew in the us still with them??
