Sounds possibly like one of your thrust race plates may be cracked

COuld it be relatewd to those copper shims that are designed to slip? Have they worn through and so only slip?

Same thought as Dan, but maybe you left them out last time you rebuilt the diff??

Is so, you'll never get the diff to do anything other than slip.

Must admit I never liked the CR diff.. so I just slapped a normal XX4 diff in mine when I ran it last season

how often would you consider replacing the copper shims?

Ash, make sure the thrust plates are in the correct order on the diff screw, i made that mistake the first time round (they're different sizes)

Phil, is the xx-4 diff the same size as the cr? even the outdrive lengths?

Stan.. I can't honestly remember.

But the first mod I did was to dremel a flat on each of the CR diff halves and then use the normal XX4 diff plates. If you try this mod, then you can always go back to the CR diff plates nice and easy.

Ash. Did you go to school. Or did you bunk off when it came to english lessons and how to write a sentance properly. It is very piss poor for somebody of your age.

Losi is different

Looking at the car from the back, the diff screw should be on the left hand side.

Are the cone washers under the diff nut ok? or have you over tightened them and flattened them? Sometimes just replacing these, and putting a new diff nut, on makes a big difference.

Your not trying to use the spring in the old diff halves are you??
If you are there's you problem.

Found my problem as the diff rings shattered the diff gear melted meanign gthe holes sorta became a funny shape but as i saw the rigs first i assumed this was the problem so get a new diff gear tommorow and some new diff rings then rebuild quick before practise.
