UK BLOOD DONORS
-------------------------
Male Donors, did you know that in the UK you can now give blood up to 4 times every 12 months, as long as they wait for at least 12 weeks between donations.

Chequered Flag Racing 09-09-2012 03:44 PM

81 today  but I still feel like a 21 year old ;)

so have you taken to donating since my last post?

Mrs oOple 09-09-2012 04:25 PM

I'm just coming up to my next donor date, only thing is I think I booked an appointment at my last session and I haven't seen any reminders arrive yet, hope I can find out when /where it is!

Where do you give blood at a weekend?

i4n 09-09-2012 05:54 PM

I'm only on donation 4 now, but that was because of your initial post Glen  I'd been meaning to do it for years but kept making excuses up.

I've since found out I'm special (my Mum always told me that!) as I'm O- but have minimal antibodies etc. on my blood so I'm exclusively used in Neonatal Intensive Care (I've got the NEO-rr marker on the back of my form). I'm now going to keep giving as long as I can.

I made it to 36 pints - and then for some reason they deciced that whenever they visited my town they would only ever do it on a Tuesday - which I can't make.

If they varied the days they visited I'd donate again in an instant - surely I can't be the only one in the same boat? Can't see the wisdom of not varying the days.

And on the odd occasion plans have changed and I have been able to make it, I've been turned away at the door as "we're not taking walk-ins".

Funny - I thought you wanted my blood that's why you keep advertising!!!

Hpi_guy 10-09-2012 08:47 PM

got just over a year left before i can start donating

Well done Guys and Girls sadly I can't give blood anymore after meningitis and various operations. I would like to thank everyone who gives blood so much as with out the donors my wife wouldn't be here. She had in excess of 50 pints when she was ill, and with out you selfless people we wouldn't have her.

THANK YOU>

Good skillz Glenn. Keep up the good work and the encouragement.
I think my next donation date will be due in January, not sure how long I'll have to wait after visiting Malaysia though.

Any more new recruits?

12 weeks are up and I'm off for a cuppa & biscuits later in the day. Hope they can still take some blood after a recent knee arthroscopy I've had. Can't see why not as there are no drugs in me other than alcohol.:D

Are you going to join me?

Don't have to come the Teesside though;)

Look here to see when you can donate, just enter your postcode, www.blood.co.uk

Hi
Nice thread and to a whorthy cause, but not wanting to be a wet blanket but If you are already there giving blood take the time and register to be a donor.

I have just gone through a heart transplant, been i the hospital 3 weeks and looks like I can get the weekend at home... awesome as I have been climbing the walls here.

Giving blood is great but have a think about giving someone a new life as well

I thought this pics sums it up pretty well
