Bone popping out of outdrive on X-6

Ok, the situation as stands:

3mm of limiters in shockers
3 shims on each CVD axle
-2* camber
inside hole on wishbones, 3rd in on tower

The bones is hanging out of the outdrive, i want to run -1* camber but it just pops out.

What do i do?

Darren Boyle 09-06-2008 02:51 PM

Have you got the BK2 CVD axles fitted, these will cure it if not.....

josh_smaxx 09-06-2008 02:52 PM

No i havent, its just standard kit + FT B4

BTW, thanks for geting it to me so quick  i might be ringing you later on about some spares.

shim it out some more to stop it happening with the kit cvd's

think I may have 8mm or more in mine

I would but i dont have any shims left :p oh and i found a full set of your anti-squat shimz in the box of tricks i bought off James Shanley.

bigred5765 09-06-2008 03:00 PM

u need the bk2 axles really, but i re drill of the drive shaft will help in the mean time, never don't it myself but I'm sure someone will tell you how fare out you need to come,2-3mm is my guess.

there no use inside the shocks :p

josh_smaxx 09-06-2008 03:06 PM

If i put one in the shocks it might stop the bones popping out though :p

dont worry i wont. I need more shims  wonder if DMS have any......

re-drill the B4 kit axles for the drive pin so that you shim the axle inwards in the upright?

josh_smaxx 09-06-2008 03:12 PM

I think its something like that, but i dont have a pedstle drill so ill get the BK2 axles.

Is this the part number for the shims AS31162?

Lee 09-06-2008 03:19 PM

just use any spacer josh, thats all i did.

If you ask rich lowe how many i had in my shocks at the clash he will tell you it was about 14 mm.

Eventually i realised i was using xx4 rear shocks

josh_smaxx 09-06-2008 03:20 PM

If gone through every box i have, i dont have anymore spacers. I have the big ones that go between the bearings in the hubs but thats to much, iv checked.

Lee 09-06-2008 03:25 PM

hmmm, im sure we can sort something for you, just use all the pistons you are not currently using:lol:

Mike Hudson 09-06-2008 03:26 PM

how can you not have any shocks spacers? go raid your house  you got any of the red rubber shocks seals?

Rick 09-06-2008 03:29 PM

If you are desperate then strip a bit of insulation from some motor wire and cut to length

josh_smaxx 09-06-2008 03:29 PM

woah woah woah, crossed lines here badly. Im talking about shims on the axle  iv got loads of stuff that'll go in the shocks.

Mike Hudson 09-06-2008 03:32 PM

maybe 1mm more in the shocks will do the trick then ;)

rcracer 09-06-2008 03:35 PM

just buy the bk2 axels it will save you all this hassle

I was thinking along those lines

super__dan 09-06-2008 03:57 PM

Josh the right thing to do here is the axles, the extra droop will help everywhere, it's a must have upgrade. You aslo need a spacer then on the inside of the axle, the xx4 front wheel bearing spacer is IDEAL. Buy both those parts and with a couple of CVD shims you can run any shock combo and have no issues.

Re-drilling is fine if you can ensure you do it properly, if not don't bother!

Northy 09-06-2008 04:18 PM

I saw an X-6 recently that used an extra wheel bearing as the extra spacer! :woot:

Innovative and thoughtful, who was this legend G?

X-God????

Northy 09-06-2008 04:32 PM

I can't say, but it is true, he IS a legend

Cool, I have put 8mm of limiters in the shocks for now but i've ordered the axles from DMS so i'll get them fitted, will need the spacers though, anyone going to york at the weekend want to sell me some?

Cockerill 09-06-2008 04:38 PM

I think I have some you can have Josh, come see me at York

Awesome, might be after some setup advice as well  new car so i have no idea what works yet, and york will be my first time on track.

Lee 09-06-2008 04:46 PM

Tom, are you giving my spacers away that i was going to ask you for :woot:

Josh the car will be fine, its easy to drive and doesn`t bite you if you get slightly off line.

Chrislong 09-06-2008 04:51 PM

The car with less droop doesn't feel good over the bumps. Get that BK2 axle and spacer stuff in and remove all shock internal limiting!!

I didn't realise you wanted any

Josh, If you build it up with Ellis' Oswestry setup the car will be very good, any help you need on the day just come over and see me.

josh_smaxx 09-06-2008 08:39 PM

I have built it up a close as i can get with Ellis's Oz setup but i cant get hold of any losi shocks in time for York (well, cant be bothered tracking them down, i have exams this week) and i cant get the hubs or espeed hangers yet. So im just gonna have to make do.

Cockerill 09-06-2008 08:48 PM

In that case run the outer hole on the bulkhead and hub with a short-neck ballstud if you have any.

Sunday best should have some piston's, if not someone will have some kicking around.

josh_smaxx 09-06-2008 08:52 PM

I'll put it in the outer hole tomorrow. I might have some pistons, i have some really old losi shockers but no springs for them, so im just gonna wait till i can get a threaded set with some springs.

Lee 09-06-2008 10:10 PM

I know where you can get some losi threaded shocks. pm me if you want some;)

Darren Boyle 09-06-2008 10:42 PM

Hi Guys, sorry I did not reply to the thread sooner, I have only just home form the shop. Spent some of the night talking with Chazz on the phone before he had to pop out. Next order is now on its way!!!

I think most of the questions aimed my way have been answered now (Glenn/Josh??) but as everyone has said, no limiters in the shocks and the inner wheel spacers of the XX4 as axle spacers works great. Also Losi A3016 wheel spacers fit here too.

We have loads of the BK2 axles in now, we got about 30 last week from Horizon, so anyone who needs them, no problem!!!

Lee 10-06-2008 07:05 AM
