Indoor Finals Lack of Competitors/Entries
Hi All
As of today I have a total of 39 entries for each day of the National Indoor Finals event at York on 4/5 April 2009. Clearly if entries stay at this level we will need to cancel the event as the club will lose money as will the caterers for the meeting. Obviously no-one wants to do this so if you intend going please let your Regional Rep know as soon as possible. A final decision as to whether the event runs or not will be taken on Monday next and the result posted on oOple. Regards Charlie Fraser Sec. BRCA 1/10th Off-Road Section. |
Is everyone aware that 2009 Lipo's are permitted?
|
Think its all about the timing, cost etc. more than the batteries. York is expensive to stay at and with the credit crunch people are a bit more careful
|
hope this isn't going to be the story with regionals and nationals too???:(

I'm worried it may affect nationals too!
|
I can't make it due to money issues.
Can I suggest though for people to car share, and hotel room share. It may be obvious, but it is a way of seriously cutting the costs. Does it clash with something else, such as an 1/8th meeting? Could it be held on just Sunday and have 2 classes on one day? |
i really hope not
all the effrot thats being put in from all the clubs this year i would hope to see a good turn out |
i could problely do it if is just a one dayer, don't sound a bad idea to me
|
York can be relatively expensive cos its a trap for tourists, but there are plenty of cheap places relatively close.
The credit crunch is definately biting, I know cos I've been bit. Probably won't do the far north east regionals this year if I don't get another job soon :( |

Unfortunately it does clash with the first round of the BRCA 1:8 Off-Road Nationals at Frankley so there will be a few missing... |

P.S. That's not having a dig about it clashing, there must be loads of factors go into setting the dates so am not having a go! |
I reckon it could be done in one day, no reason why not, taking worksop for an example with the amount of drivers they have in a days meeting and finish at a reasonable time still, obviously the indoor finals would take abit longer as there will be a proper drivers briefing with rules, cautions and apointed referees etc and races may not get underway till abit later on
|
It may just be the Indoor Finals which clashed, as compared to other events it is arranged with relatively short notice with little choices due to what has already been pre-arranged. With so many racers now doing both classes id imagine the 1/8th and 1/10th nationals don't clash.

With lots off people loosing there jobs & short of cash Yorks a big expense when you take hotels & everything in to account.
Maybe a one day event may be the way to go this year :eh?: |
Where can i book in for this event?

is it because Ash lives in a different world to the rest of us??? |
Charlie,
I'm as keen as anyone for the indoor finals (booked in and paid G a month ago ;) ) so I'm hoping this can be resolved. However will there be a cutoff date when a decision is made if the event is to go ahead? A week before say? |
Did you read the first post Dan :eh?::lol:
|
Hi Dan.
Graham is away on holiday so entries may be stacking up on his doormat hence the wait until Monday before any decision is made. If there is no change in the entry level the York guys are considering a one day event on the Sunday with both classes running on the same day. This may be a good fallback position but the decision will be made either way on Monday. Regards. |

Charlie, How many entries are needed for this event to take place??? |
Quote:
Thanks for clarifying though Charlie! |
Hi David.
As this is a club financed event I dont know the answer to your question but things didn't look favourable to local officials at the current level of entries. Regards |

I have it in the envelope just need the stamp :) |
Would be a big shame not to run the event as its normally the last indoor big event before the outdoor starts. Im sure everything is being done to get as many entries as possible.

I sense a large wasted hotel bill !!!!
Hmmmm, oh how I wish for 20/20 vision. The Players looks like it might get my attention now!! |
The trouble is with the Players this weekend and the IF then so close behind, have the two meetings not affected each other???
I think it is safe to say that the Worksop lads are not thrilled at the entry that they have recieved so far (I understand that it has picked up in the last few days with the change of plans etc) but I got the distinct impression when they first spoke to us about it that if 180 racers rolled up just for a sunday then they were expecting even more for a "bigger" meeting, which has not been the case. Then of course the Finals are on at York straight after and then is two "large" "all weekend meetings" so close just a bit too much for everyone to handle especially in the tough times that many people are experiencing financially at the moment. There is of course only so much time of work etc people can book off. The finals have always been at the end of the traditional indoor season (March/early April) maybe "IF" we are are to have these BIG one off style meetings we should try to locate them either around the time that the Petit took place (January - which was fairly well attended) or even "kick off" the winter season with a"biggie" in October time each year??? Just my thoughts...... |
