Lazer-zx5 FS or B44

Both have good part support overhere but associated is a little better(canada)

Any reasons i should pick one over the other?

Heres my list of criterias

I will be racing both in and outdoors.

It will be my first time racing.

I think i may like a less nervous buggy

I will be using lipo batteries.

Durable.

Col 29-10-2009 09:12 PM

They are both good cars. Buy which ever is cheaper!

markwilliamson2001 29-10-2009 09:46 PM

I "think" that the Kyosho may be slightly more durable, but hardly any difference in it.

Associated will be easier to setup (setup sheets and data available), and will probably have more 'mates' trackside, if you catch my drift...

50/50...go with your gut instinct. I have had kyosho and associated cars in the past, and both very good/strong etc.

James 29-10-2009 09:53 PM

I think the B44 would be more durable from what i've seen..

MRD 29-10-2009 10:59 PM

With regards to value the b44 wins hands down. Over here the Lazer is £80 more than the b44 and the b44 is carbon fibre not carbon plastic. Thats not to say the Lazer isn't a good car, it just seems a bit overpriced compared to a b44. My Dad used 2 b44's and trust me, they take some hammer.

RBX 30-10-2009 11:32 AM

Just out of curiosity...Are twin CF plates stiffer when compared to plastic carbon composite?

RogerM 30-10-2009 11:47 AM

I've not had a B44 but have had a BJ4WE. For me the Kyosho car is much easier to drive, more stable, easier to set-up and easier to work on.
To be 100% honest the B44/BJ4WE is right at the bottom of the list of prefered cars.

If both have equal support I'd go for the Kyosho for sure.

Durability is very good on them now (first ZX5 less so but the SP / FS has that sorted).

The price issue here in the UK is due to many issues such as exchange rate and distribution chain etc. and probably doesn't apply to you over there.

RBX 30-10-2009 09:34 PM

I might add that our track is very rutted.

mikeyscott 30-10-2009 09:38 PM

With regards to these aren't you into Cat SX price territory? If so another one to consider?

If it was me I prefer the ZX5 looks, but stilly money. Most of the new 4WDs I have seen at Titchfield recently have been B44s

Get the FS then, one turned up to our club a few weeks back, and over the very worse part of the track, I'd say it was better then everything bar my Durango:D

Whereas the B44 I had last year:thumbdown:

Hi Roger,

thanks for the support.
We checked the prices recently of all our competition cars and now they are all in the right price bracket for the UK.
thats part of our plan to win back some sales in the UK.

BTW i just spoke to Butch (Simon Willets) got 2nd today with the FS at the proline dirt area, first time out for him with the car he was over the moon as he knows he could have won,

Neil, sorry mate I didn't mean that negatively at all. You guys don't have any control over the £ - Yen and the fact that supply chain to the UK has worse shipping costs than supply to the US.

I'm still very happy with the spares prices for most parts of the Kyosho cars and relative to the likes of Yokomo etc. everything is compares well.

I still have great faith in the cars and as I always tell everybody in my opinion the RB5 is the best 2wd car I have ever driven (since 1985ish).

Neil Skull 02-11-2009 01:14 PM

No Need to apologise Roger,
You are correct about how the Global economy affected prices.
But now we have managed to get the price back down to equal the competition.
We expect retail to be under £300.00.
I cant say for certain as we dont set the retail prices.
I think last year they was selling for £360 plus.

Not too bad when all you need is in the box.

Lee Martin 02-11-2009 01:32 PM

If he thinks he can beat me then get him to come and try again........................

and at every other track too.....

I don't think it was that close really? It's only a 14 second lap so it will seem close if someone can get near the same lap times but i thought Lee was quickest anyway?

Don't get me wrong Si was driving very well and looked extremely comfortable back doing 1/10th again but i'm just saying i don't think it looked like he was actually going to beat Lee - Certainly close on pace but not close enough

Lee Martin 02-11-2009 01:43 PM

muahahahahahaha...bring it on butch!!

GRIFF55 02-11-2009 02:01 PM

His car did look good on track there, very smooth. BUT, i do think that if there was more pace needed off the tq man it would have been there.
Both drove well but i'm gona whoop you both at the next one:woot::wtf:

RBX 02-11-2009 05:12 PM

So you gentlemen seem to be leaning more towards the lazer!?

What is the handling nature of each car?

Battle_axe 02-11-2009 06:34 PM

well something there is to remember this was buch's first time out with this car and he drove it well really well infact so does this meen its easyer to drive than the B44?

Lee Martin 02-11-2009 09:55 PM

i won first time out with my B44........so does that mean both are easy to drive???

Next time will be interesting to watch...

Cant wait for the RallyX season to start again lee...

ashleyb4 02-11-2009 11:41 PM

Considered the B-max? Yardy seems to of been going very well with it all year. Won at tally. Seems to be a nice ballence of everything. cheap, good performance, reasonable spares avaliability, proven design. Neil won the euro's with it and yardy at tally.

traffman 02-11-2009 11:51 PM

I thought about an fs before i plonked for the B44 .

I used to race yokomos and the B44 suits me fine.

I love you two gay lords, nick you know that if you have one mistake on that track and it game over, so for me to miss FTD by 1 second due to me getting sideways on one corner is not bad, for the cars first time out:p

Gayboy if you want I can send you a list of meeting that i`m doing, it not a problem, might not run them 2 year old 3700 next time dude, anyway got to try and make you look like your a bit good for that new job of your :woot:
and dude tell me again whats the differences is betwwen the bj4we and the b44??? lmao:woot:
love you xx

matdodd 03-11-2009 12:53 AM
