Your Car weight?

I have a problem with the weight in my 2wd ( 1660g )
It is on a diet now and hope to get it lighter befor the first race
just need to get some Lundford stuff first =)

I blame my BL stuff for it :D

Soo! how heavy is youre car?

k£v!n 16-05-2007 03:23 PM

Mine is about 1640 but it has the very large motor heat sink at the back.

RLGfx 16-05-2007 03:26 PM

My B4 has got lead on to make it heavier... a heavier car will (generally) handle the bumps better, and be more forgiving to drive (IMHO). I think mine comes in at about 1650ish...

Doomanic 16-05-2007 03:33 PM

My son's B4 is 1590g, but has about 100g added to get it up to 4wd weight

bbq 16-05-2007 03:40 PM

Hmmm? am i on the wrong path?

Swiss 16-05-2007 03:58 PM

I run 100grams of extra weight in my xxxcr, makes it nice and easy to drive. If I find the car is a little un responsive, (like in the wet at Kidderminster) I tend to take out about 40grams....

bigred5765 16-05-2007 04:15 PM

1760 all up weight of are xxxcr, why make it lighter, people are adding weight not taking it away, the days of running minimum weight to aid your run times are long gone.i think its all about power to weight ratio nowadays and we aren't short on power

Chrislong 16-05-2007 05:09 PM

My X-6 was at 1730g on Sunday (dry) with an additional 45g of lead. No effort to reduce it required, the balance is good and I prefer to drive a heavy car.

Where is Northy??? ;)

1700 my B4...with added weight....

weighs more than my Aero!

_sleigh_ 16-05-2007 05:41 PM

My XXX-CR has 40g of lead and a brass front bulkhead which weight 35g more. The car totalled just over 1700g at the Kidderminster National on Saturday.

jcb 16-05-2007 05:43 PM

Pretty sure my B4 weighs in around 1540 and my S4 is about 1650.
Pidge what does the aero come out at on the scales?

Lee Martin 16-05-2007 05:44 PM

ummm 1675. with step pins on if i remember right.

bbq 16-05-2007 06:20 PM

wow my car is "feather weight classed" by now! compered to some :D
i can now keep my brass bulkhead and sleep well at night :D

It is intresting that almost every other car racing class aim to get as
close as possible to the minimum weight to increse perfomance?

So why are we closer to the minimum weight?

what whould be the + and - ?

I hope i dont start hell with this :D

Northy 16-05-2007 06:37 PM

At Kiddy on Saturday my car was 5g over minimum weight.

Who said "Light is right." ??

Do what you want to do, not what others tell you.

bbq 16-05-2007 06:53 PM

I will do what i want to do but this is intresting to hear what every
one has to say about the subject. :D

Stu 16-05-2007 07:14 PM

I like anti-fashon.

Chris Doughty 17-05-2007 06:40 AM

if you got the skills and are a setup guru then run your car just over min weight... and you will be very fast, but if you run out of talent then you will crash, quite often

if you don't more weight makes it driveable and easier to setup to go over the bumps.

Body Paint 17-05-2007 07:18 AM

my prototype S2 weighs 1590 with no lead in it.

As the car was designed to have the weight balance correct for UK tracks there's no need for loads of lead in it;)

;);) ;) ;)

Kopite 17-05-2007 07:39 PM

A heavier 2wd car will also cope better with the insane amount of power that we have these days as well

Sooo, where do I get those hexagonal Kilo weight things from? Anyone know the ones I mean? :D

Reminds me of overtaking about £2000 worth of kit with my £300 RTR hyper 7 when i raced actually, was kinda fun to see the little light kyosho go over bumps like they were mountains with my hyper 7 right up it's backside with the suspension pumping away and the body like a speedboat on calm water :D My hyper was a right tank :p

You do know you don't have to use the fastest motors you can buy don't you?

i had an 8 year break from racing altogether, i used to use SCE's and 15 turn motors. I used to run the lightest car i could just to last!!! Now i'm constantly adding weight to the car!!! :wtf:

trust me, compared to what i used to run, the amount of power we have now is INSANE!

....or perhaps i'm just crap :D

MK999 17-05-2007 09:31 PM

I like the look of the TC spec LRP motors, roughly the same power as a mediocre microwave, and 4 times the revs of an F1 engine, strapped to a 2wd, fun :D

PaulRotheram 17-05-2007 09:32 PM

after seeing you break your rear shock tower on your first practise lap, on the first corner at kiddy round 4, i can confirm you are.. mahaha

just joookin like!

Kopite 17-05-2007 09:36 PM
