second hand tekin rs?

whats the going rate for a tekin rs 2nd hand average cond?

HarlowS 15-12-2010 04:04 PM

Around the £100-£120 mark for an RS Pro

captainlip 15-12-2010 04:16 PM

for a standard rs?

DCM 15-12-2010 04:25 PM

There are very few RS's about, as most plump for the Pro from the get go.

captainlip 15-12-2010 04:41 PM

£200 is a bit much tbh

DCM 15-12-2010 05:02 PM

Pro is £190 new and £140 for the RS

HarlowS 15-12-2010 05:17 PM

What car and motor are you planning on using the speedo with ?

currently speed passion v3 7.5t but will probs buy a 6.5t or a tekin 6.5t

HarlowS 15-12-2010 10:00 PM

I would be looking at the RS Pro then

captainlip 15-12-2010 10:20 PM

too expensive what alternates?

/tobys 15-12-2010 10:25 PM

If Speed Passion too big, check out Nosram/LRP - slightly smaller footprint (although not as small as the RS Pro).

Insideline Racing have the RS Pro on offer at the moment...£180 I think..?

captainlip 15-12-2010 10:33 PM

£180 still to much

do you mean the nosram pearl? is the tc spec og for 4wd?

/tobys 15-12-2010 10:40 PM

LRP/Nosram TC (touring car) spec should be fine for 4wd - they are normally rated to handle bigger current loads than their non-TC versions.

captainlip 15-12-2010 10:43 PM

nosram pearl and tekin rs non pro are my options then.

/tobys 15-12-2010 10:48 PM

Are you certain you can't get your existing SP to fit? I'm sure there are plenty of examples of how it can be done in the Durango thread...??

captainlip 15-12-2010 11:07 PM

just sold the sp far to big.

whats wrong with the tekin rs non pro?

/tobys 15-12-2010 11:20 PM

Nothing wrong with the RS as far as I know.

But your application seems to lean heavily to the usage profile of the RS Pro (4wd, 6.5 motor, presume high grip carpet/astro tracks?).

I've been looking at the Tekin kit and thought I might be able to use the RS in my X6, but was advised that as I usually run a 6.5 and run often on high grip (Indoor carpet, dry Astro, etc), this might stress the RS too much and that the RS Pro would be a better bet.

As I understand it, the Durango doesn't offer too many airflow opportunities and so you want to keep your kit running as cool as possible. The RS Pro (with it's higher FET count, so cooler running) seems a better match for your setup.

Personally, I wouldn't run the RS in 4wd - I would be too concerned with it over heating and damaging itself. Ultimately, the decision is yours..!

coolcars782 15-12-2010 11:22 PM

Just been going through the Durango and people have got sp's in theres :confused:

Col 15-12-2010 11:34 PM

There is a dindango at York with a novak GTB. That's the biggest esc in the world...

The above may be a slight exaggeration

I saw some in the thread with gtb's but i didnt know if gtb is still bigger

captainlip 15-12-2010 11:49 PM

it will fit but not happy with it

ianhaye 16-12-2010 08:14 AM

mamba max pro, once again not as small as rs, i had one in my b4 fine, wicked esc :-) 125 quid and no motor limit

Whiskers 16-12-2010 08:33 AM

The new Speed Passion GT2.1EX looks smaller than the GT2.0 and it's only £159 and will handle a 5.5t motor.

captainlip 16-12-2010 10:46 AM

thinking of going nosram pearl with tekin redline motor

captainlip 16-12-2010 01:36 PM

can anyone suggest any issues with that combo?

jamiekerr14 16-12-2010 01:44 PM

I don't see why you don't just save up and get a RS Pro.. best on the market.. in most people's eyes. Loads of room in the DEX410.. The SP would have fit.. but-for some reason.. you sold it.. and don't even have a new ESC to replace it:confused:

I would save up for RS Pro.. then all your issues/concerned are solved.
Maybe do some searching more-on the other's.. and no offense, I think people maybe starting to get frustrated on the will this work.. ect when 2 mins of searching will probe find you what your after.. not being rude, but just saying.:)

captainlip 16-12-2010 01:53 PM

yes the SP would have fit and did, but i wasnt happy with it been so tight.

i have no experiance with nosram or tekin hence why i asked.

and not everyone has £200 to blow on an esc. infact i have half that to spend.

jamiekerr14 16-12-2010 02:15 PM

Fair enough.. why sell the SP.. if your not sure on what to get? ... I would have kept it in there for now. And save up for a RS Pro.. but thats me..

ianhaye 16-12-2010 02:46 PM

+1 i also would have kepted the sp if only 100 quid to spend on a esc.

captainlip 16-12-2010 02:55 PM

the SP was good, but the norsram will be more ideal for me.

what are tekin motors like?

jamiekerr14 16-12-2010 03:53 PM

Try the search feature :eh?:..you may find some more info there..

ianhaye 16-12-2010 04:33 PM

they are good but there are faster out there and you should really serach to find out what motor works best with the esc you want to get, and some motors dont work very well with certain esc, so far the sp v3 has been my fav motor :-) just a thought are the nosrams user updatable? if not i would defantly consider something that is.

How are you saying the Nosram Pearl is more ideal for you if you have no experience with the Nosram. The Speed Passion did the job, why do you need room in the Durango? There isn't room in it when theres nothing in the

Not a clue, only run Novak :)

ianhaye 16-12-2010 08:14 PM

u need to look up wat works best with watever esc u want cus buying the best motor wont always make u faster if certain motors work better comboed with certain esc, spend a few hours searching, maybe should hang on n save for the rs u want

/tobys 16-12-2010 08:24 PM

If your looking for a good, inexpensive speedo, I've just seen this:

http://www.rccarshop.co.uk/catalog/p...roducts_id=285

LRP Sphere TC £115. LRP & Nosram share the same innards I think, so this might just do for you?

I've run SP v3 motors with LRP speedos with no speed issues this season.

HTH :)

clumsysaint 16-12-2010 08:59 PM

you shouldnt be paying anymore than £100 for a used rs pro these days mate.....the price off them new has come down a fair bit now.....specially if u can wait and order from superior hobbies in usa!! rs pro $199....do the maths, good saving with the dollar being so poor lately!!

ive got 4 rs pro's and run both tekin and gm motors with them....the only major difference is the tekin motors are so much smoother than any other ive tried and respond better to the adjustments off the rs pro esc.

if you can wait....get a pro mate....better to play safe with motor wind limit i believe.....you wont be dissapointed
