Bet Griff knows !!!!

mattybucks 27-05-2011 08:55 AM

Does it look like a losi 22 on the outside, but there's enough room to put your electrics in on the inside?

Chequered Flag Racing 27-05-2011 09:56 AM

wonder if it'll make a showing at the next national?

tony12795 27-05-2011 12:26 PM

Come on Jimmy, post the pictures, the suspense is killing all AC car lovers :D

GRIFF55 30-05-2011 11:56 AM

The car drove really well on saturday and was really good in the wet too!!
What a sexy bit of kit, atomic does it again!!

I'd best describe the way it goes as a cr2 with lots of steering:D

paulc 30-05-2011 12:14 PM

You get less teased in most striptease bars than in this topic :D

OldTimer 30-05-2011 07:42 PM

Been away on holiday so not been able to post any pics earlier, the chassis has a shorter wheelbase than the kit chassis and also gives you a lot more room for you electrics hence the Tardis 22 ;) just sorting out a revised shell at the moment, also looking to see if the ftw vane will fit.

Lovely chunky atomic carbon front tower on there too;)

stegger 30-05-2011 07:46 PM

LOTS more room at the front !!!!!:drool::drool:

I likey alot :woot:

stegger 30-05-2011 07:50 PM

How has testing gone ? Is it better in the low speed corners and forward grip ?

Spencer Mulcahy 30-05-2011 10:48 PM

I will ask the question on everybodys lips Jonathan how much is it going to be. Also has there been weight used during testing cheers.

Wacker 2 30-05-2011 11:15 PM

I saw Jonathon using it for the first time at our latest Mid West Regional at Coventry and it did look a hell of a lot better than it did before.

It looked far more driveable with more weight over the rear wheels and although it is shorter than the original 22 it looked more stable.

I think a friend of mine had a brief go with it on the day and he said it felt really good.

Its certainly got me and my CR2 a wee bit nervous! lol  :woot:

Jon!

tomtom 31-05-2011 09:33 AM

Like it very much, especially the new weight distribution (more on rear end).

Think I'm going to keep me 22 !

When ?

GRIFF55 31-05-2011 10:48 AM

It had plenty of low speed cornering on old staggers and high speed with no weight on the front. The only weight in the car i ran was a rudebits under lipo one.

Thats the not so good bit, at the moment all the parts are coming out at around £140 :( this is mainly due to the moulded carbon fibre chassis with the kickup moulded in, as you can see hopefully in the photo below, also there are a lot of parts with all the layers of sidepods a total of 10, 5 each side which you can add and remove to alter flex. As well as battery posts and the lipo strap etc.

http://www.nortechracing.com/ac/22/tardis_22_5.jpg

Re the weight the only weight added is a 110gram 2mm thick brass weight under the lipos, no rear losi brass weight kit or other weights added to the car.

Spencer Mulcahy 01-06-2011 09:38 AM

That's not to bad Jonathan is there any chance of the two screw holes either side of the hinge pin brace from the original chassi to be put in during manufacture for the brass weight kit that is sold on here cheers.

OldTimer 01-06-2011 09:47 AM

Thats already been incorparated into a updated version of the chassis, so you can fit the slinga weight that fits between the motor and gearbox ;)

Spencer Mulcahy 01-06-2011 09:49 AM

Fantastic :D

Ben Turner 01-06-2011 11:37 AM

Any idea when it will be available? Griff's looked very good on saturday!

Ben

Spencer Mulcahy 01-06-2011 11:39 AM

Is that price with a shell?

peetbee 01-06-2011 12:07 PM

I think the original shell still fits this chassis :D

mrspeedy 01-06-2011 12:16 PM

How much shorter is the wheelbase than the std version ?

OldTimer 01-06-2011 12:19 PM

Currently its 10mm shorter than the kit chassis. The kit shell does not reach the rear shock tower even with it being shorter.

The approx price above does not include for a shell or for the link between the gearbox and lipo strap.

mrspeedy 01-06-2011 12:24 PM

OK thats cool, are the side pods the same size as stock or have they been moved back too ?

The reason I ask is cos I'm making a mould for a new shell for the 22 and it might as well fit this chassis too

Sidepods are shaped to replicate the stock sidepods, the chassis is reduced in length from the rear off the car, so the front 3/4 of the car is the same as a stock car.

Only difference is that the sidepods need to be raised so they are just above the bottom of the windows on the kit shell.

tomtom 01-06-2011 01:17 PM

So kit shell will fit, very nice

Can't wait for it ! :woot:

Please include the link between gearbox and lipo holder too.

OldTimer 01-06-2011 01:21 PM

The kit shell sits to high as the lipos are now under the sidepods, the outline
of the chassis is the same as the kit shell.
