410 or sx3?

a question that im sure has been asked before
i used to race 15-18 yrs ago to a reasonable std
i always had a soft spot for the cat, but times change

everyone tells me 410 [if so ill wait for the v3 to come out]or do i get sx3 as i have a soft spot for schumacher stuff.
my only problem with the cat is they seem to have changed it quite oftern,[sx sx2 sx3] so does that mean i get an sx3 and it will be replaced in 6 months?
the fundimentals of the durango seem to be quite stable so is it better?
help appreciated guys.

steve_haskins 02-08-2011 07:56 PM

my dad caught me smoking for the first time at the kit car show in 94 when i was standing next to you....still makes me cringe lol

tyreman 02-08-2011 07:59 PM

This will be his third return, last time we were racing at Brandon when the XX4 was the current car from Losi:thumbsup:

jasonrcb 02-08-2011 07:59 PM

Lol we had some good days thats for sure, kit car and town and country was always good

tomtom 02-08-2011 08:00 PM

I would say Cat SX3, the Durango is nice and repliable but I feeling it needed to be push hard to work at its best. For an average racer like me, coming back after a 15 hears break the Cat is easier to drive and very smooth.

They have worked a lot on this one compare to the SX2, not something you will see on chassis pictures but larger bearings, better diffs and lots of details that really impress me.

Two runs and I got an almost perfect setup for our weird track.

jasonrcb 02-08-2011 08:01 PM

Perhaps its 3rd time lucky bri,we can help steve we like helping people :)

tyreman 02-08-2011 08:03 PM

Still remember you Steve and Ray Pinder in the a final at the kit car show with no more than 1 foot between each car for the entire minutes.

jasonrcb 02-08-2011 08:05 PM

I could drive back then mate, well better than these days lol

steve_haskins 02-08-2011 08:07 PM

this time it will stick , its because i tryed messin with those 2wd things, messing with motors and batterys in the old days was a real chore too,
good to here from some old freinds,
i guess once its in your blood...,
anyway done the usual stuff got 2 kids, married twice, [keep telling the wife 3rd time lucky lol]

i guess the car is less important theres prob not much between them

HarlowS 02-08-2011 08:08 PM

No, sorry, but you still couldnt drive even back then :p

nicVEGAchildJR 03-08-2011 01:22 PM

B44.1

mikeyscott 03-08-2011 01:29 PM

SX3 is my vote. Durango is very nice, but hard for those lacking skill like myself.

PS my SX3 is up for sale £280 with a few other additional bits

Subtle. Stating your preferred car then slipping in an advert for one you are selling. Smooth :D

Only because I'm having a clearout due wanting RC to take a back seat for a while. I'm probably racing a XXCR for a while LOL

Cars these days just fall to personal pref - nothing wrong with
Durango
SX3
B44.1
ZX5 FS2
Tamiya 511
Tamiya 502
etc etc.

I'd happily own any of them, just comes down to which "brand you like" and "what support you want" Both Schumacher and TD trackside support is very good.

jimmy 03-08-2011 02:35 PM

I've not driven an SX3 myself yet but I'd definitely try and blag a go of both as they're quite different beasts and one will likely suit your driving style better than the other.

steve_haskins 03-08-2011 10:26 PM

cant wait to get back in to it the only reason i gave it up the second time was two kids under 5 and wife working sunday made it impossible
thanks for the offer of car but im gonna wait for the new 410 what ever the car it will just be a case of setting it up for my driving style [not that i have any]
im the same there are so many names i recognise
im sure many have gone, i wonder whos still out there
one of the racers i used to look up to was jimmy davis when he turned up at the local club with his modified hotshot, i then managed to destroy my super shot in an attempt to have a car like his.
home most of the meets are still near pubs!
