Are you joking? What if people can't make Saturday? Regardless of the track being different or not, people are going to get a setup for the astro so to run on the Saturday is a joke. Is it even allowed?

Or do you mean the Saturday a week before the meeting?

tony12795 05-06-2014 07:54 AM

I am in Belgium for this meeting, but I agree with Stu that this is a little unfair, Don't think I have ever heard this before. Is it allowed the day before the main event?

spennyy2k 05-06-2014 08:07 AM

From the brca rules.....

14.12 The track will be closed to any kind of use, whether for race events or practice, by anyone, including the club’s own members, for the whole of the seven day period immediately prior to the commencement of a National event

No mention of regional meetings regarding that rule that I can see

tony12795 05-06-2014 08:20 AM

So thats the "is it allowed" answered....

Only in the North West would this happen though and IMO I think its a little unfair because we as a region did not go down the two day events just both classes all on the Sunday and that's it. If I was doing this meeting and could not make the Saturday practise day then I would not bother doing the Sunday.

(just my opinion maybe other people have a different one)

danDanEFC 05-06-2014 08:36 AM

Hang on people, I see your point however there is nothing stopping people bunking into Southport or Bury on the Saturday before those regionals. They are both in public parks.

This is a new track to 99% of us and having some access of the track for practise was requested.

tony12795 05-06-2014 09:31 AM

Yeah thats completely the same Aidan - :woot:

Nnrc was new to 99% of people as well but I don't remember a practice day being organised for that one. Pendle has been astro and several 1/10 meetings have been run on it already.

stuhurley 05-06-2014 10:10 AM

It's a new track Aidan and should be fair for all, not just those that can get there on Saturday.

Regardless of the rules, opening the track for practice the day before a regional isn't in the spirit of racing. It gives an unfair advantage to those that can go and whilst I'm sure it wasnt intended this way and was just intended as a bit of extra fun/practice it's not.

It would be a real shame for the hobby and racing in general if people deliberately exploited every advantage that wasn't written down as a specific rule to stop it.

So what about the people that were down practising at nnrc the week before???

Most peole who are mid field will always try and get to each track prior to the meeting to improve even if there not allowed and its closed! Its the way it goes you cant stop that i guess! Opening the day before does sound nuts but im sure it wont much difference to the normal top 10!

Dont think it makes any difference as most people will have a setup for the track before they arrive...it is astro :)

MikePimlott 05-06-2014 10:29 AM

The NW strikes again,

Only in the NW would this discussion be taking place :woot:

Was just saying personally I hadn't heard of a practice meet at nnrc, and I'm not fussed either way if it's open or not. And yep pendle is astro but it's slippy astro

Only in the NW can 3 people from a region of 120 questioning somehow look like the sky is falling in.

So people practise at a track wether there allowed too or not yet is ok, yet if it's properly organised that's a bad thing.

Boom Boom!

They have run one day already so the 1/10th drivers could get a feel for the track as asked by YOUR club regional reps just the date is indeed the 5th of July. They also ran a couple last year as well I have been told mixed in with the 1/8th guys. We were unable to hold a practice day at the nnrc venue due to the calender. All the 1/10th clubs in the North West region have held club meetings prior to events with the exception of nnrc and at the moment Furness. Now it is hard to please across the board when it comes to this sort of thing, but if anyone has a way where the North West Rep can win please get in touch. Maybe the only option is to only have 4 rounds next year because at this rate we are going to run out of options to race at. Feel free to form a orderly Que volunteering your services for next year at the south lakes meeting as more hands make light work after all.
