Why are these so expensive?

As rare as rocking horse shit?
Someone paid over £600 for a 25 year old pair of BNIP tyres last year. They were only ~£40 quid a pair brand new. But they stopped making them 20 odd years ago and went bankrupt in the late 90s. Probably the last set of BNIP tyres in the world. |
But it can only be as some sort of investment.....no one is going to pay that money for tyres and then use them..! Seems crazy.

I'd guess they were for a garage queen. Or even a museum piece!
I'd not ride them. 20+ year old tyres will be completely dried out and brittle. Ten miles and they'd be dead. |
And the irony is that i've got 5 or 6 of them in a bag in the attic. All used, probably still with the mud on. Total value, next to nothing.

Think I better see what’s in my loft
