for jimmy

not really too clever at wording things so bear with me.saddened and upset of this awful news,i feel the need to do something.initially I was going to donate some money to a charity of Vicky's choice, then I thought about asking members at my local race club to also contribute.but, seeing as jimmy gave so much to the r/c world, why shouldn't the r/c world give something back?would it be so bad if each r/c club donated one meetings worth of race fees to a charity of Vicky's choice?i'm pretty sure most clubs could do this as a one off.without Jimmy most clubs wold be struggling.just my thoughts.

Could be a plan mate. I know my painter is doing me wing skins with a tribute to Jimmy on the end plates

claymoreman 03-06-2015 03:52 PM

jimmy

how about an event where all clubs and members and even new or returning people to the sport could all enter and the proceeds go to the charity

CHEVY 03-06-2015 04:34 PM

why not just set up a Paypal account for donations for jimmy

Clubman Series

Would be good if a club v club meeting could be organised with all proceeds being donated.

Why not a custom Decal, and sold with proceeds going to a fitting charity?

Sounds good, I'm sure Jon at RCS could sort something out.

I can sort something out with Jon if you wish to do this. Jon does all of my printing so can get something designed up for Jimbob and can get Jon to sort it :)

I thought Jon, seems fitting guys, top bloke, top artist, gets his own tribute to adorn every buggy for years to come, and laugh at us :)

I would like to see a superstar race series held annually
Like the EOS that as you can see in this vid Jimmy's reaction shows he was enthralled by it

Miss you Jimmy

I'll put a decal on all my cars.

alan p 04-06-2015 11:56 AM

Defiantly like the decals idea and a country wide race series could be a great way to show respect for Jimmy

Ross 04-06-2015 03:45 PM

Decals and what about the oOple series renamed "jimmies oOoos" to run as a fund raiser get event ?

Like the Reedy Invitational.

Only it'll be the Jimmy big RC Weekender.

If anyone sets up a donation for the Storey family, or Jimmy's funeral I'll be 100% all over that.

I'd rather give my donation to that kind of cause than give it to a random charity with no real connection to Jimmy.

WHITTLER555 04-06-2015 08:55 PM

HI, thanks for all your ideas.

The OOOOS Series will run for the rest of this year at Dunfermline this weekend, Mendip on the 4/5 July and Southport on the 25/26 July.

You also have the Invernational meeting at RHR which effectively started it all from Jimmy's initial idea for a "superstar" event that mere mortals could also race at.

I expect this years Invernational will be particularly poignant so my advice would be to put an entry in or just come and camp for the weekend and enjoy the racing and the craic, just as Jimmy would've done.

Thanks guys - lovely suggestions. Whilst Jimmy hasn't shown particular interest in donating money to charities, his enthusiasm has always focused on bringing the fun and enjoyment back into racing, the ethos of all oOple series and invernational events. We both feel it is important for racing to be affordable and to attract new drivers to the hobby. I will have a think about charity stuff, but really the best thing you can all do is to support Jimmys legacy to continue - keep oOple and everything that it is about at the forefront of racing.
Thanks for the ideas, and massive thanks to everyone for all their kind thoughts and words of support at this extremely difficult time.
