Big bore shocks, starting piston set up
 

I've just got a set of big bores, to go on my hybrid chassis, 2wd, and am wondering what the starting point is for big bores on the tm2 (for outdoor astro) as it'll probably be a good start point for me. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Superb, thanks! Am I right in thinking that the pistons used on Craig's setups are the standard kit pisyons, with 2 holes drilled to larger sizes?

Probably, or he may be using Xray or Assosiated ones.

The kit pistons are 6 holes pistons and arent generally used anymore - even with 2 of the holes enlarged.

Associated 1.7 x 2 and 1.6 x 2 pistons can be used.

Or, if you prefer tappered pistons, you can buy blank tappered pistons from Team C and drill to your preference.

Your best starting point is;
1.6 x 2 front with 450 cSt oil
1.7 x 2 rear with 350 cSt oil

Thanks for the info guys. I've gone with a random start, and drilled the standard pistons, fronts with 2 of the holes drilled to 1.3, and rear with 2 drilled to 1.4, using losi 27.5 rear and 35 front. Shocks feel really smooth, but the springs feel soft (team c 2 dot front and rear) so will throw some associated springs on.

One problem, one of the cartridges is leaking where it threads in to the body. The seals seem too small to me, any tips here? I am tempted to see if the Schumacher o rings will fit and are larger...

The seal from the cartridge to the shock body should have two O-rings, make sure both are present

Ah right... That'll be why then... Should read instructions!
