Hobbywing 120A 2.1 in a B4

Just looking for advice and suggestions.
I've recently acquired a Hobbywing 120A 2.1 for my B4, after running brushed for a while. And I've got an Inix 8.5T motor to go with it.

I've installed the Hobbywing into my B4, but with the Fan it definitely does not fit under the standard body, and with the fan removed it's still a tight fit.

What do peeps do in this situation, cut holes in the body, to allow the speedo to pop through, or something else.

Would be OK to run this motor/speedo combination without the fan, I will be running very little timing/turbo/boost as I am coming from a Reedy 19T brushed stock motor. Probably I will run the speedo in Blinky mode the first couple of times until I get used to it.

Any advice, thoughts, suggestions gratefully appreciated.

I used to run a B4 with a Hobbywing 120 speedo. To start with I didn't just the fan (just unscrewed it) and made sure I had some air holes for ventilated as normal. I was running a 7.5t motor and everything kept pretty cool.

However when I did change the body, to one of the FTW forward cab versions everything fitted perfectly under the shell.

I personally wouldn't cut a hole in the shell and have the speedo poking out, its asking for trouble.

Run without fan with confidence. It doesn´t matter in 2wd

Proline Bulldog is a good shell for fan clearance, I like the handling too.

But I've also run with the standard body, without the fan, with an 8.5 many times with no issues.

I use the speedo in my tamiya's and the standard fan is quite tall, I had a Novak thin fan which fits on just fine, i had to change the terminal over. When it's cold like this you can make do with out the fan just make sure there is good airflow.

Thanks guys for all the advice. I ran it indoors on Sunday without the fan and no timing and it barely gets warm with 8.5T motor.
