if i press 'match' on the charger with nimh packs, what will it do?

Certainly not read the instructions for you!

Just kidding, I think it will first charge the battery and then discharge. You will get max voltage or something that the battery pack is capable to take.

But as mentioned before. Read the instructions!:)
