Big Futaba 3vcs mistake
Bit reluctant to write this post as it really shows how stupid i have been
I recently bought a 2nd hand really nice condition Futaba 3vcs transmitter in 40 meg Im expecting a 2.4 module for it in the next couple of days, so after getting to grips with the menu etc i thought i would change the modulation setting from ppm to pcm mode in readiness for the 2.4 module, but in doing so the 40 meg module got very warm & now the transmitter wont turn off unless i disconnect the battery pack at the rear I can still scroll through menu's etc but not turn the tranny off using the on/off switch Is it knackered or is there any bright spark out there that may have a solution? Or is it now just a trophy to my stupidity. |
Not sure if 3vc and 3vcs are the same, on the 3vc there is a knob just to the right of the screen, that turns the transmitter on to adjust settings, but does not allow the transmitter to transmit. Could you have turned this?

it's the same for the 3vcs with the "disp" knob
|
That's just what i was going to suggest, the dsp knob is on....
|
the 2.4 modules all use ppm dont they??, spectrum and frsky certainly do. or is that a mis type and should say pcm to ppm?? i thought something was wrong with my 3vc when i first got it until i worked out i had knocked the dsp knob while messing, thats what it sounds like, and my 40 meg module does warm up slightly in extended use....

also The Spektrum HRS Module does use HRS !! The Standard Spektrum and FrSky Modules do use PPM only ! HTH |

They look the same, but are totally different internally. However, your advice is spot on! |
I think 'knob' could well be the operative word!!..im a right knob
Yes that was the problem Thanks very much for the help lads, much apreciated Just one more thing, i'll be using frsky receivers with the faast module Which modulation setting do i need to use , ppm or pcm? |

It's always good to learn from other people's mistakes as you won't live long enough to make them all yourself. The FrSky TFR4 receiver will work in PPM or HRS. If you select HRS you must have a digital servo, otherwise you will find your nice little analogue servo on its way back for repair. Fortunately, someone else taught me that! I run the FrSky TFR4 in HRS mode and cannot tell the difference between it and the FASST receiver. I've not tried PPM mode on either. HTH :) |
