Differnt Losi Pistons

Why do people drill out the losi pistons ???
I have read people drill out the Red pistons why don't they just fit the Blue ones ?????

Is there a difference in the piston its self i thought it was just the size of the hole that differed :wtf:

Some people driil them to obtain a special piston between others. You just drill one of the existing holes to enlarge it to the next width, so you'll have a piston with tow 55 and one 56 hole, for example. It's a way to fine tuninng the pack.

I drill all of my pistons (using natural #60 pistons as they are the smallest hole) as that way you can gaurentee the holes are all the same size, plus I also use a 554 piston (2 holes drilled to orange size and 1 hole drilled to blue size holes) in the back of my XX4.
It just gives you more tunablity.

Thats what I just found in the shocks I bought from you a month ago Brian.

Fronts are natural with no #'s & the rears are 6 6 6. What's 6 6 6 on the piston:wtf:

Put them on the X6 on Sunday and filled them 40f blue spring, 30r pink spring. That somewere near Brian? Car felt OK.

Could you list the Losi piston's in colour order from smallest hole up over so I can try to get a handle on them.

Glen 666 is a red piston, the fronts are 677.

The front is how I ran them but I used to use 40wt in the back with red springs, but that was on a XXXcr.
I dont really know for the X6 your best bet is to ask Ellis (big e) on here

Smallest first
Natural #60
Black #57 (drilled 777)
Red/pink #56 (drilled 666)
Orange #55 (drilled 555)
Blue #54 (drilled 444)

Thanx Brian

E suggests running his Batley Super Cup setup on here in the X6 forum.

http://www.oople.com/forums/showpost...30&postcount=3

Front = Black/Black not drilled & 25wt
Rear = Red/Orange drilled & 30wt. (doesn't sat what he's drilled it to though)

It will be a drilled orange piston #555

You should only drill natural pistons, as drilling the other ones out doesn't give you a clean drilled hole.

I may try this but im scared of messing it up.

Ashley learn to drive the car with standard equiptment before you start using drilled pistons, as you can get lost and confused very quickly, and simply loose your way with setups, if you don't completly understand what the effects of using drilled pistons will give you.

Please don't take this as a personal dig, but I have only just started to use this sort of piston method in the last few years. Give yourself a chance to learn the car as it is, and not get too involved in complicated setups, try and stick to the one setup that most people use, maybe tweak it here and there slightly, then when you are more comfortable with the cars handling, maybe look into this type of setup method IF it's needed

Yea i just thought that moulded ones at not the consistant with size so i thought if i drilled them it would make all the holes the same. But yea i need to run the car more first. I havent even run it outdoors yet and the setup is pretty much stock exsept for the shocks.

Best tip with drilling pistons >>> get a really good fine tip marker pen to label what they are or else you can end up in a hell of a mess.

Next best tip >>> use and old rear shock shaft to store your pistons on with a nut at one end and an e-clip at the other end.

have a look at a Travis Amezcua setup, we tried it and it works! Glueing holes of pistions etc.. Hard work but something to try!
