GTB fan necessary?

It would appear from reading around on here that the fan on top of the 2nd hand GTB esc I bought the other day could affect my choice of 2wd buggy if I want it to fit nicely...

I wonder if people think it'll be necessary to even have the fan with a 7.5t motor? Some of the blades are missing anyway...

If it is necessary, am i better of buying an aftermarket fan and mounting it next to the GTB if it doesn't fit?

I know this presents a problem in a Losi... what about B4, X-6, RB5?

Cheers

Well I am using a GTB in my B4 and didnt need a fan at the petit event. OK I was using a 7.5 but that was rather rapid when I eventually got the car set up. I didnt have any issues, but someone did show a piccy on this site of the fan glued to the chassis so the air from the scoop on the shell was diverted to the ESC. Maybe that would be a good idea.

For a 5 minute run you'll likely be OK with no fan at all.

However personally I would buy a 25mm fan and mount in front of the ESC as movement of air over the heatsink makes it MUCH more effective.

It will fit in an X6 with no mods at all if fitted in the middle ;)
