My 09' car is done!

Right here is my X-5 ive been working on getting to the standard im very happy with that has a few extra cool bits on that differ from what else is run.

I know its been shown in other threads but as you can see the servo has been shifted to the otherside giving alot more room for the LiPo to sit using stickpack ect, The LiPo im using is the Team Orion 4800mah 7.4 and it sits in great, being roughly the same size as many of the Trackpower and other top brands i guess they will all fit in very nicely. Its also been held in nicely with a Schumacher CAT SX strap for good mesure!

Ive also filled in all of the uncesisary holes including all of the screw holes that are not needed aswell as the cell slots too to prevent crap getting inside, plus its neater too.

My last as most recent thing ive done with the car is a Carbon Fibre peice that gives the 'Fine Tune' option of the belt tension. Having had this on the car previously found it to be pretty damn good, then taking it away it just caused issues so ive decided to have this on my car with a tiwst. For better balance the LiPo needs to be more 'Centre' so having it close the inside wall is key as you would guess but having the LiPo close the inside wall AND using the belt tension modifacation is nie on impossible, So ive come up with this..

Once you have the optimal setting on the tension you can tighten the screws fully to 'Lock' in place the required tension so there is no worry of the turbuckle being forced in anyway.

Here is a very good shot of how tight to the inside wall you can infact run the LiPo.

And finally here is a shot of how much room there is for the LiPo to be lifted in and out with no issue with the turnbuckle catching in anyway too.

Thanks,
Garry :)

Thanks Jay, Spent some time figuring out how was the best way to sit it all in, Id like to have the wires to the receiver colourd black with marker to make it that tad neater i think.

Good job garry
Have you thought of standing the lipo up? Wouldnt that put the weight more in the centre

Looks great!
Standing the Lipo would bring the CG in but add more weight up higher in the car making it a little more top heavy! I think keeping it were it is good enough.

Garry Driffill 27-04-2009 09:50 PM

Thanks mate, I was thinking along that way too being top heavy - I guess with higher weight it would make it snatchy?
