Soldering iron help.

I take it i require a substantial tip for decent soldering as the poxy tip supplied with the antex iron is doing sod all to help with my soldering of my esc.

Help please , is the larger tip required ?

What is the watt rating of the iron

traffman 19-02-2011 11:03 PM

40 watts but the tip doesnt seem to concentrate the heat on a larger area.

I think you need a 60W+ iron to avoid cooking your electronics.

Soldering

As per previous post 60+ watts and a large heavy tip - Heavy tip holds more heat to get the job done quickly. 40 watt Iron is just about enough to ruin most things RC. Oh and if you can use TIN / LEAD solder it would help as it flows better as opposed to modern crappy solder substitute.

Its an adjustable one , and can go up to 50 watts , seems to be the tip which tbh is a pretty slender one.
