In need of some general car setup advice off some exsperianced drivers

Yesterday i raced my mini t at cardiff and it went really well it handelled really well around the corners but i had a proplem with jumping if i floored it and stayed on the power it wheelied in the air and landed on it roof or on its back but if jumped then let off the power it nosed dived or if i braked it basically did a summersolt so for the rest of the day i just rolled over the big jump but it cost me alot of time so im after some help with how to solve the problem im scared if i add weight to the front so i can just got flat out over them it will cause lots of oversteer which i dont like so im just wondering if some people can give me some advice on what i could do to stop this. or atleast help it.

A:confused:

Adding weight will not help much as the problem is not weight related.
The problem is the centrifugal force generated by the large wheels on small car. Best advise is the drive the car over the jump and just blip the throttle in the air.

I found it hard to jump the M18T Pro - granted not as hard as your miniT of course :)
Adding the extra wing out back gave it stability - made it much easier to get the car the angle I wanted rather than landing nose or arse first. worth trying a wing / bigger wing? the further back the better, make it like a dart! :)

Thats the way these micros jump Ash! They're very reactive in the air
A good balance of half throttle or keeping at a steady pace so theres no change in accelerating will do it!

Its just practice with these little'uns but a nice big wing from us at Phat bodies will help ;)

ash it looks like you have reached the point were you need to learn how to control a car in the air.
it isn't easy nor is it fun learning, but rewarding when you've got it down,
good luck mate.
what you need is a bullet proof car and a couple of jumps to practise on
o and if your owt like Matty was about 10 front and rear shock towers lmao

Ash, your slipper was WAY to tight on Sunday. Everytime you hit the go button the damn thing wheelied!

Hmm not good. sort the slipper out, that may help a little. I found with the Micros that having a little bit of a trailing throttle helped. So in other terms, I hit the jumps and when it was airbourne the car had a small amount of throttle helping keep the car (sort of) level.

Remember ash that if you nail the throttle when jumping it WILL lift the front end, and if you brake it will nose dive. So its a case of finding a happy medium for your particular car.

Just get some practice at it, and you will find the right amount of throttle that you need to keep the car level.

I'm still learning all this with my cars.

Agreed with all comments above...

Hardest thing to do is jump, but setting your slipper properly, and just blipping the throttle, and leave some trailing throttle on when your in the air keeps it flat.

Alternative is to fit an uber wing on the back and still floor it.

I found with brushless that on my GTB, if I left the drag brake at STD settings (4 flashes, 20%) the car always had a tendency to nose dive, and that I would end up over driving the car on jumps to compensate. This was very noticable in 4wd, and made the car very hard to drive. (This was with a sintered rotor instead of bonded). Once I had turned it down to 2 flashes in 2wd, it made jumping a lot easier!

You maybe able to do this with your speedo on your minit, so have a look!

Ash, a rear wing helps a lot mate. It stabilises the car in the air as it flies like a dart instead of a ball. That and constant throttle will give it good attitude and then throttle control in the air to make adjustments.

That said, the double at Cardif was challenging with any car or setup.

Looking at your car the slipper was way too tight and definitely didn't help matters. Your car shouldn't be doing wheelies.

I think hte slipper needs a rebuild as in round 2 it wheelied so i ran back to my pit table losened it about half a turn and it went bbbllllhhhh and just slipped like mad so i tightened it up about a quarter then wheelie mania again!!!!!!!!! And i think the tyres are a major contributor as as at ellesmer eport with my foams on it jumped well but with there big rubber tyres on it jumped bad :( ok ill get practating. and ill rebuild this slipper.
